Can you flash MPPK tune at home by yourself

I've tried to search for this and couldn't find a concreate answer. But I just picked up a 2011 e90 335i xDrive in manual.

Is it possible for me to be able to flash the MPPK tune by myself at home with a usb to OBD cable?

Short answer yes.

You will need the correct USB to OBD..
https://www.bimmergeeks.net/product-...eeks-pro-cable

Or better yet a WIFI adaptor..
https://burgertuning.com/products/mh...-flash-adapter

Then you will need the proper program discussed in link, also the PPK file also in link
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1827954

Or you can get MHD flasher app ($$$) and download the bin than go to custom map, select bin you downloaded and flash.

This is really helpful info thanks!

So in summary, if I just wanted to flash PPK onto my car all I would need is either product 1, 2, or 4 correct? Then I can download the BIN file and flash with either 3 of the flashers?

The BIN file you had linked is the exact PPK tune that BMW was loading onto these cars and charging money years ago? The last time I was involved with these n55 engines was probably 8 years ago.

And I'm going to assume between cables 1 and 2 it's just if I want to pay more for wireless correct? Even if I got the MHD wifi one I would still need to buy maps from MHD if I ever want to go that route?

And actually now that I think about it option 4 isn't the tool to flash right? You're just putting up the link where I could buy MHD maps?

You will need cable if going the PC route, but if you go MHD route you can go either cable or WiFi. I am not sure the procedure to use PC but some info on this is linked..

If you go the MHD route you only need to get the flasher $199, and you can flash the bin provided..
https://mhdtuning.com/collections/mh...cense-for-n55e
But for $299 you can get the super licence which also has monitoring that combined with WiFi adaptor makes gauge viewing a breeze.. The PPK file is the one BMW charged for but, for most, that file is too conservative.

So I have a few more questions to those who can confirm.

1. How do I know if this bin file is the right one for my car. TunafishE93 linked up a bin file for the n55 98G0B. I have a 2011 e90 335i xDrive with manual transmission.

https://mega.nz/file/9KpDSAqA#Gsn3na...vrQ1J11XiWEZzU

2. I also have read a guide that was had many more steps to flash my car. But there was a link also from the same thread that TunafishE93 had put where it seems much easier. Is this guide in the link below fine for me to follow?

https://thebuildjournal.com/diy/how-...file-bmwflash/

3. As for the cable I know I can buy a regular USB to OBD cable. But TunafishE93 also mentioned I could buy the MHD wifi adapter as well:

https://burgertuning.com/products/mh...-flash-adapter

Would the MHD be able to flash my car with the PPK bin file or would I still need to buy some sort of license from MHD in addition to buying this wifi module?

1 you can look at realoem and see what DME you have, there are two for the E9x n55, one MEVD172 (98G0B) and MEVD1726 (9E60B). The 98G0B is made by date before 03/2012. I have a 2012 but was made 11/2011 so it is 98G0B.. Anyways realoem will only show one available DME when you input your info. .. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...BMW-335i&mg=12

2. I dont think that is for e9x because it says a different generation.. But i am only flashed tunes thru MHD so my PC knowledge on flashing is limited...

3. The MHD wifi is for phone flashes which requires to buy the software. I am not sure if you can use with PC but if you go the PC route it might be better to get cable. If you go thru MHD to flash a tune (even if its the PPK provided) you will have to buy their flasher package, so no free rides over the phone.

Hi Tunafish thanks again for the response.

1. So I put in my VIN into realoem and I did find my DME is MEVD172. So I'm going to assume here the link you provided for the bin file is the correct one for my car and is the most up to date PPK file from BMW for my car?

2. So the link I found for the guide was actually something someone had posted up from where you put in your link to the bin file.

https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1827954

So if you look at the post right under your post he posted up that guide.

If that is not the correct one for me to use do you have a link to the guide I should follow to flash my 2011 e90 335i xDrive?

3. And no problem. I'll call up MHD and ask them. Otherwise I'll just buy the cheaper USB to OBD cable for this simple flash.

you do not need to use MHD flash tool to get PPK.

you can use winkfp to update the DME to the PPK software. There is a whole writeup on how to do this if your google. You need the correct number for your model and dme. You also need to know how to use winkfp.

Does anybody have the MEVD1726 (9E60B) PPK for sharing? I've already got MHD flasher.

thanks.

Hi TunafishE93, is the BIN file you linked up good for my 2011 e90 335i xDrive manual? Is this the newest "version" of the PPK that BMW released?

And is there actually any different BIN files for non xDrive or manual vs auto? Or is the only thing that matters the DME version which I can verify through realoem.

Hello everyone,

Would be interested in flashing my DME with the original PPK from bmw via the MHD app. I’ve got a late 2012 e92 335i (so the new DME). The official way (buy activation code + buy FSC from activation code + flash it) seems quite expensive compared to MHD license + MHD wifi adaptor (~ 280 bucks). I mainly want to get rid of rough throttle lag, idle and rpm surging + have nice burbles while maintaining daily driveability ! (My car is completely stock, maybe get chargepipe?)

@TunafishE93 or anyone knows if this is possible?

Thanks!

J

I also forgot to mention I don't have the SA840 option so will this be a problem?

Thanks again
