335i N54 Extreme White Smoke From Exhaust
Hi All,
I have an extreme amount of white smoke (smells like burnt oil) coming out of my exhaust. took it to a mechanic, who replaced my PVC/CCV and the smoke seemed to have gotten better. But now it just got worse. I hear a houling coming from the engine bay, whenever i press on the gas while in gear. Does that mean that the turbo seals are gone, and oil is getting into the turbo? The mechanic also did mention that my white smoke problem could be due to a blown headgasket or bad injectors. I want to fix the car, but i don't want to fix things, and have them not be it. I dont have money like that to spend. Here's the codes that were pulled after the pvc/ccv work. P013E P2297 P112C P165F B2AAA Please help! |

Sounds like your turbos need to be replaced. Not sure what your mileage is, BMW extended warranty on turbos to 8 years and 8X000 miles..

What's your oil consumption like? White smoke can be a turbo problem. The turbos on the N54 have oil and coolant lines. Wastegate rattle isn't the one and only sign of failing turbos. White smoke is a good indication of oil issues or lack of it to the impeller shaft bearings. The humming upon acceleration isn't good either. Ya don't always have to replace turbos....you can rebuild if they're not fucked. Make sure your turbo rebuilder has a proper VSR balancing machine.
