Oil, Warranty, Help!

So I have installed a Bov in my e92 335i and I have 5k Miles. I was told by Bmw that I cant get a free oil change until i hit 15k miles(special type of oil). I feel like I should change the oil myself so i won't void the warranty because of the Bov ( I feel like it doesn't matter what type of oil they put in the car it should always be changed every 4k miles). If i don't take it to the dealership will they void my warranty? I don't know what to do.

So just change the oil yourself. It's easy as pie. Check the DIY section for instructions and pics. Changing the oil yourself does nothing to the warranty.

I changed mine at 1000 miles and currently have 4700. I will do it again in the spring at somewhere around 7000 miles, then I'll let BMW do it finally at 15,000.

Oh it matters alright. Most people do synthetic oil changes 4-7.5k miles in between free ones.

A bigger question is why do you have a BOV on your 335? There is no performance benefit...

So you are risking your engine's warranty to hear the pssst sound? Interesting.

On a related note, what are the side affects of venting metered air into the atmosphere via the BOV....? I don't know enough about the N54 engine, but on other turbo applications it's not wise or efficient to vent metered air.

You should post this up in the Engine Forum, I'd be curious as to what they say.

Good Luck.

That's been my plan, too. Did it at 1800, again at 7900, and will do > 13000 as the reminder says 13k or 11/2008. Haven't DIY, though. The first time I've ever seen under my car was last Sun. when I was trying out my new jack. Will be putting on the snows soon. The first winter the car had the luxury of staying parked in the garage.

The air being vented isn't metered on the N54.
And oil changes will not void the warranty unless something gets messed up by it. If they leave the drain plug loose, and you dump the oil out and seize the engine, then obviously warranty won't cover that. If you leave the oil cap loose and set the check engine light, that won't be covered. etc.
