That will provide 90W RMS to each SWS-8 and allow you to use the PnP signal sensing feature. To clarify, you do not have to use the THA275 as it is just a recommendation. |

However, no bridged mode can be used, as your image says. |

If using the PNP cable you can only use Stereo mode, this then means that you can only use a minimum of 4 Ohms on either left or right sub channels, so you can only use 4 Ohms subs. If you did use 2 Ohms instead the amp may cutout from overheating or randomly cut off when it it trying to produce a large peak of power which also may lead to speaker damage (but the protection on the THA555 is quite fast so this is unlikely). In the good old days if you used a speaker with the impedance too low it would just burn out |

I hope somebody more technically inclined out there can answer this question for myself and the OP. I bought a pair of the 2-ohm 8's. I plan to get the blau 275 amp. If I wire the subs in parallel each on their own stereo channel it should be 2-ohms right? The OP pm'd me and asked if I wired them in parallel if it would drop the resistance down to 1-ohm which the amp can't handle. My reasoning is no it will not unless I bridged the amp and drove them off the same channel. Is this correct?

That's a stereo configuration. A parallel connection doesn't apply to this particular amp in this particular application. |

I don't understand the question... for the THA275 to properly work in this particular configuration you will need to use the 2 OEM underseat woofers OEM amp outputs as the 2 inputs of the THA275. So this amp upgrade will be working as OEM but with a pair of SWS-8 instead of the OEM units.
OEM HU -> OEM amp -> THA275 -> SWS-8 (L)/SWS-8(R) Is that what you are asking? |

That's what I plan to do - cut the existing lines from the oem amp to the subs and plug those into the input to the 275 via the plug and play harness, then take the leads to the subs that I cut and connect them to the outputs on the 275. I wasn't sure if I needed to run new lines to the subs.

The 16 gauge will be enough to use those OEM wires for a short run under the seats with the THA275 power, the 18 gauge would be borderline. Check your wiring to be sure... A 12 gauge will be perfect but not required. |

I have also been looking for an amp to power my future underseat subs (SWS-8) and while researching the Blaupunkt at Crutchfiled I stumbled across this Blaupunkt, the THA475PnP, which is virtually twice the amp compared to the THA275, since it has 4 channels of 75 watts each. It is on sale for $199. To drive the subs, you could bridge its 4 channels into 2 channels with 180 watts each, but you would have to have the 4 ohm subs, since the amp is not 2 ohm stable when bridged. This amp could also offer some flexibility for the future, if and when you decide to further upgrade your system because of its 4 channels. Here is the link: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_023THA4...owAll=N&tp=115
I will probably end up buying this amp since it is so easy to integrate, with the additional harness, as Technic pointed out. The other positive is that this is a class-D amp, which means it is much smaller and runs much cooler than traditional class A/B amps. Of course the THA275 will also work, if you don't need the extra power and channels. PM me if you need a coupon code for Crutchfield or if you would like a referral code (only works if you have never bought from them before), to save another $40 on your order. |

Thanks Technic, you're on top of things like I used to be (many many years ago)
Here is a link to the mono amp: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_023THA1...nP.html?tp=115 So this one will work with the harness, right? |

As this THA1250 is a mono -single channel- amp then there is no bridging. |

Just to make sure...
I have this older blaupunkt 275 installed on my car powering the stock subs. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_023THA2...=THA275&tp=115 This should be good enough to power SWS 2 ohms, right? It says 120 RMS at 2 ohm.. Thanks. |

So then the question is, where do you get this specific connector? |

Just received my BP275 amp and the harness Technic linked above. For some reason, none of the connections on the PnP harness I bought will fit the BP amp...is there something I am missing?? I dont see how any part of this harness will appropriately 'fit' into the PnP input of the blaupunkt amp ...
