N54 Injectors ... HELP!
So I have been getting some pretty bad start ups for a while now. I really want go single turbo ASAP but I want my car to be healthy before I do it. I have a feeling that these bad start ups are being caused by the injectors. I already replaced the battery just in case.
I just want to know the cheapest place to buy new injectors that WORK. I know Rock Auto has them for $120 a piece but I can't find enough information on these to put me at ease as to why they are so cheap compared to other places like ECS Tuning, etc. I read one forum page where they were discussing the Rock Auto injectors but they did not come to an agreement on whether Rock Auto injectors are OEM or what the index for these injectors are. I even called Rock Auto and the guy over the phone seemed very ignorant on the subject. For example, thinking n54 was the part number and not knowing what decouplers were! Anyone know a little more about the subject?

I read the injector thread for Rock Auto. From what I read, the injectors aren't the latest index but a fairly recent revision. BMW seems to revise these all the time, so it's not like having a slightly earlier revision is going to hurt anything.
I would get those injectors changed out ASAP. Leaky injectors seem to be the #1 killer of N54's (spun bearings due to cylinder washdown). I'd also change the oil as well. |

Awesome. Well, I definitely do not want an engine failure. I have been keeping up on my oil changes. I have also done several data logs while this problem has been occuring and everything runs perfect. That's why I didn't think it was injectors.
But anyways, if I buy the injectors from Rock Auto will the seals and decoupling elements from ECS Tuning fit the injectors? Thanks for the reply and help.

Check the N54 section and the "other" N54 forum for plenty of info on these. They are the same injectors BMW sells...

Most people have been getting the latest index 12 injectors from rock auto. I don't think anyone has gotten an older one for awhile. If by some small chance you get one that isn't index 12, you could just send it back.
They even have the roundel stamped on them.

Rock Auto really is the place to go. I am in the middle of replacing the manifolds/stock Y-pipe on my truck with long tubes/ORY-pipe. Tranny mount broke (rusted bolts) and dipstick broke.
Rock Auto was a little over 1/2 the price of Amazon & eBay and less than 1/4 the price of the local auto part stores. |
