2013 BMW 335is  [8.84]
Recoding-FA error

Took my car in yesterday for the BMW Assist combox upgrade and of course they flash the whole car. Not a big deal since it only upgraded about six modules when I compare a prior UIF with the present. Now I get the following error in NCS Expert when I attempt to load it up to reflash my previous trace files to recover my coding. I should add that my daten is probably 56.2 and we're now up to 60.3. Is a daten upgrade in order now?

First of all, don't restore old "backups." Recode from scratch. You don't know what was updated with the new flash programming.

To solve your issue, remove that option from the VO/FA and then read the car again. If you get another error for different option, keep removing the VO/FA options until you can connect. Do not write the new VO/FA to the car, just temporarily edit it. You don't need to readd the options you deleted afterward

Yes, at least 59.2 and later contain that K-word. 61.0 is the latest.

Check your I-level.

Just checked, my I-level is E89x-16-11-500 now. I going to drum up 61.0, if not 60.2 should do the trick. Again, many thanks.

You're welcome. 60.0 or later will work. The E89x I-level hasn't changed since 60.0.

Hello guys, I recently bought Combox Gen2 for my 2008 e93 m3. My car is truly an LCI vehicle with FRM3+JBE3 M and plus my iLevel is E89X-16-11-500 with CIC C1A + Combox 2G.

The Gen2 came out from 2011 E93 328. And i believe it is retrofitted by BMW to have active services on this vehicle.

Since my Ilevel is already up to date i do not believe i need ISTA P activation since ISTA P all it does to lift up the iLevel for the required version so 4G combox can function on our E series.

So my question is do i only need to add +UC4G to VO while $6VC remaining? or $6VC no longer will be in the VO?

I will flash the unit with my VIN and provide IMEI + SIM numbers to activate the service thru BMW Connected but just wanna know the VO coding before i install the unit. I will also add the Canbus to the new combox so i can have BMW Services like SOS. I know i disabled the KOMBI SOS error by coding the parameters in KOMBI before. So after the activation i would need them back as well.

TCM_ALIVE_MONITOR -> nicht_activ
TCM_ID_MONITOR -> nicht_activ

I think i have a bad news :/ I talked to BMW Assist. They said BMW disabled the service for vehicles older than 2016 on Feb 1 2021! I still cant understand why with a 4G unit tho. They couldnt answer this question either but said well we just get the order and apply. So we can not tell you if BMW ever going to build another unit for a retrofit again, but as is it right now it will not be activated for your retrofited 4G combox. Does anyone know anything about it? I now have 4G sitting here and i am really disappointed with this news!

Hey guys, i have succesfully installed and activated the Combox. Working just like my 2G combox no connection issue or any sort of issue that many other people experienced. Maybe i have the latest SW running on the Combox , that might be what fixes the many issues.

The problem i had was BMW Assist still cant see my car having 4G in the system and can not create an account for me to use the Assist services.

Does anyone did this retrofit at home and activate their Assist Services on a 2G to 4G combox retrofit?

I came to the point that i will try to go to dealer and tell them to hook up the car to read it. It might update on their online server (ISIS) with the options i have at the moment in the car.

Since BMW Assist cant see my car being 4G, i called AT&T and gave them the IMEI and SIM ID no that is written on my combox 4g. They activated the sim card with 4G Data. Then i was able to click the Update BMW Assist on the CID menu plus SOS start working and i was able to talk to customer service without BMW Assist subscription.






But i still want to get the BMW Assist services. So whats your thought about how to change the 2G option to 4G on bmw online system when they run my VIN no?
