Oil leak + smoke on idle
As above
Haven't driven my car in a week and took it out today for a wash and noticed some oil on garage floor. Was quite a big patch just inside the front driver side wheel. Took the car out afterwards for a bit but didn't notice anything obvious and it drove fine Not long ago I took it out again just to see if something would come up. I had cleaned the oil off the floor earlier and I check again and there was maybe half a 5c size coin worth of oil in the same spot. Started driving and noticed smoke coming from both exhausts only on idle. Not sure if it was smoking earlier but I was looking out and didn't notice anything although it was pretty obvious this time. Any ideas? I'm going to have a good look in the engine bay in the coming days so anybody give me some ideas on where/what to check? I got limp mode last week along with code 2a99 (crank shaft - exhaust camshaft, correlation). Not sure if thats related. I'm ready for some bad news EDIT: Should mention it was white smoke |

Oil filter housing gasket leaking probably. Coolant runs through the oil filter housing and can mix with the oil causing white smoke. Check the coolant reservoir and check if theres oil in there. Oil filter housing gasket leaks are quite common on these cars and not that hard to fix, just a messy job.
Could also be a head gasket but highly highly unlikely on these cars

Take under belly off and have a look.
Could be a lot if things. I wouldn't stress, smoke could just be from oil drain gaskets failing and dripping onto exhausts. Should be able to see it clearly if it's dripped on the floor |

Ok so that wouldn't be the worst outcome. I've done a bit of searching and seen all sorts of possibilities even blown turbos lol
So if the OFHG is leaking is it easy to replace? Would somebody like me who's never done a DIY ever be able to do it? |

While I would classify it as pretty easy, if you haven't done any diys I definitely wouldn't recommend this as a first job without supervision.
