Not that those RoRo auto carries look very stable, but what would cause a ship that size, tied up at dockside, to tip? Somebody drove cars off in the wrong sequence? Speedboat wake? It's a wonder nobody was hurt.

My poor e92 is on that boat....Tell me I am dreaming....

I knew something bad is going to happen to my car, I had a bad feeling ever since the ship got delayed at the begining of its trip

I'm only speculating, but when E46 M3 was about to came out, BMW NA brought over 300 or so Laguna Seca E46 M3s to US to distribute to each dealer, for customers to try it. But the stealers didn't really used the cars what they brought here for, but sold them almost immediately. So those e92 M3 could of been for the same purpose, since the article says that most were new M3s.

Not sure how exactly the route for the shipping/vessels work, but was jersey the last stop for these cars? My CA said that my car coming back from euro del was scheduled to arrive in cali on jan 17th...so I'm wondering if there's any chance my e92 might be on that. Sorry for those who had their cars on it....

"Those cars with light damage will be repaired at the Elizabeth Receiving facility and sold through BMW's dealer network as new cars. "

I wonder this is considered "light damage". I wouldn't pay $60k+ for this car.

The last time this happened, it was Mazda. There was a shortage of certain model in 2006.

I would not buy one for the love of money for a long time, thinking you may have one repaired. They are NEVER the same.

1 series pricing is out and orders are taken but no customer delivery yet. Those must be dealer cars

Centers are always able to tell if a vehicle was damaged in transit (VPC Damage). There is a damage discloser within CenterNet when the VIN or production # is entered. BTW, the severity of the damage is also disclosed.

Yikes! That ship (Courage) is the ship that safely brought my car over a few months ago! Man, I feel bad for those waiting for their cars...I would be devastated!

My neighbor used to load and unload these ships. Back in the day, he would hire me for a day to off load Benzs here in Baltimore. I've actually driven over 200 Benzs albeit for less than 1/3 mile each.

Other than that, I am not an expert but I do know that these ships need to be loaded and unloaded in precise sequence to maintain stabilty. Some of these ships can transport 3000 cars. The offloading is very carefully controlled.

I would imagine however that it was something else. My hunch is that it happened out at sea. Maybe rough seas in combination with an inexperienced crew?

Sad though. I feel for those with cars on board. At least you have alcohol!
