BMW LL01 spec

Wonder if this okay for our cars? What is the difference between an LL04 and LL01? Cheers

Very cheap for sure. Is 5W-40 compatible with our cars as I thought it was 5W-30?

5W-40 will have more viscosity. So more protection on older engine at the expense of MPG. MPG will drop.

Sam, sorry I understand the viscosity numbers but just meant that some engines / manufacturers will specify only a specific ratio for a particular engine. Just wondered whether that was the case for the 335i's or whether 5W-40 is acceptable too.

I haven't found cheaper then Harry Fairbairn: 20 litres for £48 inc VAT and delivery for SAE 0-30 LL04

I bought some last week and, despite the ad stating 48 plus VAT, the price of £48 included VAT

LL04 was primarily developed to keep diesel exhausts clean. LL04 is better for low sulphur content fuels such as those available in the UK and Europe.

I got 20L of the Low-SAPS BMW spec 5w30 DPF oil from EuroCarParts a month or two back for 54quid.

Comes in a big trade sized bottle which can be a little awkward if you dont have a pump, but you can get a pump off ebay cheaply enoguh.
