Does BMW have to disclose if your car was damged during shipping? Reason I ask is...

my car has been at the vpc since Nov 12. That seems like a long time, especially when I hear stories about cars getting in and out of vpc in a few days. I'm just wondering if they are trying to put it back together, haha. The dealership is only about 20 miles from the arriving port, so it definitely isn't travel time. Thanks...

I believe they have to disclose damage over a certain dollar value, hopefully someone will chime in with specifics, I can't recall right now.

They have to disclose the damage if it is more than 3% of the value of the vehicle.

AMEN. That vehicle can go on the lot and be someone else's problem, they should get you a new one.

I mean if it was solely cosmetic, maybe a new rim/tire, but anything else, new car...

Sounds like they're just waiting for a new rim/tire to come in.

Most dealerships would say 6 - 8 weeks.

You put in an order with the combo you want and if your dealership has any allotments scheduled to go to production in the upcoming days/weeks, they can modify that order to match yours. I ordered mine and received it in 5 weeks.

Sorry, I meant how long would it take for a tire/wheel combo to make it to the vpc, not whole car. I'm on week 10 waiting for my car with it sitting at the vpc for three weeks already.

That's what the VPC is. (or at least part of it, the primary function is to get the vehicles from the ship tot he dealer)

I would be asking for some serious cash back due to the delay.

but here's the ? The VDC has to disclose to the dealer, but does the dealer have to disclose to the consumer/purchaser? Is there a report from the VDC that indicates what has been done. i have seen it on 1 or 2 of my cars, but not all? i have had a dealer repurchase a car that was repaired at the VDC when the paint started to cure and you could see a color mismatch.
