How much is my car worth?
Lease is about to end and I am hoping to get an idea on the car's worth before I decide on the buyout
2009 335i Sedan, 82,000km, no accident, 1st owner Options listed on the car: 335i Sedan ($48900) M-Sport ($3900) Navi ($2000) Exec ($2200) Audio ($2000) Auto ($1700) Metallic ($800) Lumbar Support ($400) Total: $61900 (42% residual = $25998) everything stock I checked autotrader prices, but there aren't too many E90 with similar equips, and prices are all over the place. How much do you think the car is worth if: 1) I sell it private and 2) how much dealer will give for trade in? Was hoping to go back to a MT, but the lease buyout seems low...and it feels like a big waste of money to get into a new car just for the manual... |

To give you an idea, I sold my wife's 07 323i 6 MT with sport + premium pack for $14000 last October with 80000km.
Black book retail value was like $18k something like that? As soon as I listed above 16k I got 0 response, and a couple responses at 15k. If you list at black book value, chances of people contacting you are very low I find. I'd say expect to get 85% of whatever black book retail value gives. Also options isn't worth a whole lot in used market. Most people who say "good deal" etc. on forums due to condition/mileage/options are usually not the serious buyer you're looking for and tend to back out. The ones that knows too much about the car also tends to be extremely picky and aren't serious, ask every little minor things like when X recall was done, did you do walnut blasting, is there carbon built up, did you install catch can, did you replace HPFP, when was spark plugs replaced etc. Those also tend to expect to get vehicle well below wholesale price (lowballers) I've sold many vehicles private before. The above is just my personal opinion/experience. Also please let potential buyers test drive your car when you list it... that is a instant deal killer for me as a car buyer (i switch often) as soon as I read comments like that I close the ad. I'm not buying an exotic, its no bugatti veyron. 14-18k. My car is 2 years older than yours and it is what the market is willing to pay @ 130k Last edited by silvermist99; 04-26-2013 at 10:27 AM.. |

What prices are you guys posting, what the OP's is worth now or 2 years down the road in the 2nd post?
I would figure the car is at least worth the residual + a few grand more. |

I bought my 325i CPO for a bit over $25k when it was 3 years old, when the asking price was around $28k.
I'd assume a 335i of the same age would fetch more than what I paid for my 325i, but I don't know what the market looks like right now. |

This is an actual wholesale price,
80,108 K BLUE ADESA Toronto Consignment Sale 03/20/2013 $19,600 --this is with a clean carproof, no claims Options: Leather 2WD MN CD 5P CC PL PST PW AB AD TC NS MS AC PSDP HSDP Tilt Telescp SAirbgLF SAirbgLR SAirbgRF SAirbgRR PDC CdinDash RearDfrost Fuel Level One thing missing on that vehicle is NAVI, so add 1000.00 also I dont' think you mentioned it was xDrive. If it is, that of course would drive the $ amount significantly. Wholesale/trade-in I can see you getting 22k max, thats all the money ......retail well thats what someone is willing to pay for it. A lot of people on here are on the money with about a 24-26k |
