Pull the injectors and check them,

Looks like excess fuel leaking from injectors causing the black soot build up on plugs.

You probably have to change all the injectors,

What do I look for when I pull them? I'm planing on ordering all index 12s this Friday

Have you watched the BMW fanatic video?

If the tip has carbon deposits then the injector is likely clogged. If the plugs smell of fuel, even a little, then the injector is likely leaking.

Yeah I'll check the injectors and see what I can find

I checked the plugs and couldn't smell any fuel, I turned it on and let it sit for about 15 minutes and checked again but no fuel, I guess all there is left is checking the injector for carbon build up

Yep,

I'd also recommend Walnut blasting it anyway, if it's never been done, more than likely you have significant carbon build up

I pulled my injectors and found carbon build up on all the tips, injectors have 90k on them and have probably never been clean by previous owners, gonna go ahead and clean them and put them back in, any suggestions on what to clean the tips with? Brake clean

This may or may not work, (cleaning injectors and putting them back in that is)

Some have reported this worked for them, leaving tips dipped in some all purpose cleaner for a few hours then cleaning it off properly, with carb cleaner spray, and refitting them afterwards. Injector seals should be changed as well. Will need this tool or a similar one to do it properly...

Budget on Walnut blasting and possibly Index 12 injectors.

I'd like to see how effective something like this is though,

make sure to change the seals and couplers on the injectors since you pulled them out

Have you Walnut blasted first? and see if it makes a difference, (I would do the cheaper stuff first)

I have not, I don't think that's the issue considering it only does it during cruise and never anytime else

UPDATE

I swapped bank 1 injectors with bank 2 and coded them, first few minutes of driving it seemed fine then parked it and took it back out a few minutes later then started doing the stutter again, bank 2 was still doing the stutter and not so much bank 1, I've pretty much rulled out injectors considering it's only been bank 2, and it can't be 02s cause I've just replaced them, I also swapped bank 1 coils with bank 2 but still didn't work, I don't know what else Is left other than a walnut blast

im having a similar issue only at low rpm, stutter, hesitation. Anything past 4000rpm is smooth.

Im going to try swapping throttle body since i have a spare and inspecting the gasket there, see if it makes a difference. I have tried swapping a bunch of things with my other N54 and it still has the same stutter at low rpm. Vanos solenoids, boost solenoids, diverter valves, plugs, coils. I did feel a slight improvement when i reset the throttle adaptation for a short period of time.

Did you install Index 12 injectors yet?

No, I did a flow test and they were all pretty good, cylinder 6 was flowing a little too much tho, so the injector that's in cylinder 6 was originally in cylinder 3 and I had no issues with bank 1, so that's what leads me to believe it's a dme issue that's making cylinder 6 misbehave

Ok, let us know if it makes a difference. Carbon build up can also cause misfire,

Well I reset the whole cars adaptations and drove it home about 40 miles with no stutter, went out for a drive a few hours later and the stutter came right back, almost certain it's a dme issue, my mosfets are all good, but I'm on msd80 so I think my next step is going to be reprogramming to msd81
