How many miles on your D
Just curious to see how my D compares with everyone else on the subject of mileage. I can't seem to stop the pleasure I get from driving this monster. It's nothing but pure joy!
I've got a 2011 D, purchased on 29 Dec. 2010 and to date I've got 19,380 miles! Loving every mile of it! |

Wow and I thought I put a lot of miles on my car. Mine was delivered in October 2009 and I'm at 38500 miles now.
She's been in the shop a couple of times, twice for software glitches, and many times for the low DEF warning - which turned out was caused by the mechanics not filling the tank up properly. Still love her to death. The best mpg I've seen out of a full tank is 37, and that was about with about 70% highway and 30% city. I haven't taken a long enough road trip to see what kind of mileage I would get out of a full tank of highway driving but I suspect it would be well into the 40's. Then there's the power, which goes without saying. I tend not to street race, but in my two years of ownership I've had a few friendly run ins where I've been able to surprise a couple of 350z owners, keep dead even with a 550i, a 335i, and a Boxster S. My favorite was when I pulled alongside a couple of guys in a C5 corvette who owned a tow truck company and couldn't believe my car was a diesel. They couldn't believe it when I told them I was getting 34 mpg in mixed driving, even less so when I showed them my taillights up to 80 mph and they couldn't quite pull past. Sorry, I didn't mean for this to turn into a mini review but there you have it. No other car comes close to the combination of performance and efficiency of the D and that's why I love it. But we all already knew that didn't we? |

11k enjoyable miles.
A a few problems, had AC belt and tensionors for the dreaded SQUEAL and it's still squealing. A couple of elec glitches. Like stated above it's a blast to drive, deceptively fast. Like maswastage I am not a street racer but I've had a couple of run-ins with some other cars and the d took care of business. First was a 335i convert from a dig running stock, had him by 2 cars up to about 100. Second was a '10 S63 AMG from a dig runnning the JBD, had him by a car length from the start up to about 100 mph. I've been very impressed so far, but I will be interested to see how well our cars/dpf systems hold up over the long haul. I had intentions of keeping this car for a while, but if the dpf system proves to be problematic I will reevaluate my plans. |

I've had my 2011 since June.
No Regrets. Love the car. Have a few small annoyances that I will bring up with the dealer on the first service, passenger cup holder is not level. The whole trim piece is off by a few degrees. And, i have a strange tick/click noise coming from driver door that happens when i let off the accelerator. Thought it was trash in my storage bin on the door but after cleaning that out the noise persisted. Anyway... I did find a way to bump my MPG in town. I have been manually shifting for all of my city driving (i drive 80% city, 20% highway). I do downshift to 1st when at full stop. When accelerating I generally shift by 1800 rpm. At 40 mph I am in 5th with my MPG indicator between 40 and 50. I am hauling my kids most of the time, so I don't need to get from A to B as fast as possible. On my current tank I have 330 miles on the trip odometer with the guage reading a few ticks under 1/2 tank. |

Not sure what happened to this owner, but he traveled by car a lot for his job. I checked out his site and experience prior to buying my car in 2009.
I recall he put 55K+ miles on his car in the first year. He hasn't done updates in a year though. http://www.thelonghighway.com/wp/ |
