Great experience at AGR Tyre and Wheels in Sefton - PICS included =D

Wanted to share my experience with AGR tyre and wheels in Sefton (Sydney).

Saw a set of gloss black m4 reps back in April. Since I was going overseas I did the responsible thing and thought I'd wait till I was back to purchase them.

Fast forward to last week, can't find the wheels anywhere. Looked online at AGR, Tempe, St George, ozzy, east coast Tyres and wheels and no one had them. Even googled the brand of wheel, face booked etc etc. nothing. Called Tempe as I have previously used them and the person on the phone had no idea about cars or what products they sell. So I gave AGR a call. spoke to a worker, and within 10 mins he'd called me back saying he can order them in and have them within 48hrs. I said great and put down a deposit. 2 hours later he said he could personally go and get them so I'd have them on the same day as I'd be unable to collect them till the next Tuesday (today - which is when I got them). I didn't worry about it as Tuesday's are my day off and I was watching the Belgian f1.

I arrive today, wheels are great, and tires were fitted and all balanced up. They waved the Amex charge and did a free 4 wheel alignment as well. Was in and out in around an hour. They also sprayed my caliper and wheel hub black as part of the install.

I will go back next time it comes round to buying Tyres.

Pics to come :-)

Aaron, loving the look with those new wheels! Looks absolutely mean!

And props for taking the time to post a positive review about your experience. I find coming on enthusiast forums we hear all the bad stuff so good on you for letting us know about how good AGR took care of you.

Does sound good, I'm heading down there next week to look at tyres. What size and type did you get and what sort of deal did they do you on the tyres?

Thanks 1275. Did a bit of search on them, nothing came up. Hopefully next time someone looks for feedback on them they find this and they get another customer!

I got 235/35 front and 265/30 rear. Both 19's. I think rears were 450 each and fronts were 350 each. Michelin Pilot Super Sports all round

Could of found them roughly $100 cheaper for the set elsewhere, but with the effort and ability to source seemingly unsourceable wheels, free 4 wheel alignment, fitting/balancing, painting calipers and hubs, wrapping old wheels in plastic to not dirty the car and no Amex surcharge I wasn't going to haggle.

They also used black weights on the black wheel, which surprisingly isn't always the case at all workshops!

Yeah, sounds like you did get very good service and I'm sure you would have paid more at some of the franchised tyre centres. AGR are known to be one of the best around.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports are also one of the best tyres though don't think my budget can stretch that far.

Depending on what they have I'll probably go for something like a Toyo T1 or Ultrac Vorti or Dunlop Sports Maxx SP which are quite a bit cheaper but I think still quite good performance wise.

Though I'd be interested to see what other people are using in the more budget range of tyres and what is good?

I have run Kumho KU39 on my 335i and think they are pretty good performers at that price point. Good value for money.

I will be switching soon have put 15,000km on them with still 60-70% thread left but need something more sticky with car now 400rwkw +

I picked up these HRE forged goodies from AGR last week. They did a great deal and supplied complete with hubcentric rings/inserts and new HRE centre cap stickers and completely refurbished.

19 x 9" Front and 19 x 10" Rear weighing in at 10kg and 9.7kg.

I'm having them opti-coated before having the tyres installed.

I agree i thought my ku39s were a fantastic tyre for the price, im sure theres better out there if you spend up, but man they are unreal for the price.

Just changed my rear tyres as the steel belt was exposed on the inside part of the tyre

Got 16000km out of the rear super sports (front still good). Was quite happy with that.

Put them on again this time.......

Edit: and yes went to agr again. Happy as always

AGR are very good. They also have a team of company couriers to deliver tyres/mounted tyres and wheels to you if you need that service, same day if ordered before noon too.

Cant comment on their service in terms of workmanship as i personally fit my own tyres but they are run by a more mature minded bunch.

They deal with some of Sydney's most well known Euro dealerships so stock in OE sizes and brands is usually fresh. Non OE sizes might be a lucky dip - you might get an old but new tyre or a tyre freshly stripped off a delivery mileage set of rims.
