FWIW...I ran on my E39 M5 and currently run Sumitomo HTRZ3's I am very satisfied with them...ran Pilot Sports on the M before. The only real difference I could tell (granted I am no expert) was in wet, the Michelins were better.

However, I am a bang for the buck guy...being I can buy almost 3 sets of Sumi's for the price of the Michelin...I will continue to buy them.

Well maybe 3 sets is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea.

Ride seems good...Although they are not run flats, so just off that aspect they are better, as far as noise goes, I cant compare them to the OEM b/c I never had my car with the OEM's on it.

When I replaced my worn Michelin's on the E39, the sumi were quieter.

They arent silent, but I dont feel like they are at all inrtusive either.

I added the digital speedometer display without correction, added the weather radio bands to iDrive, added the fuel stop recommendation to navigation, enabled high beams + low beams + fogs, removed the seat belt chime, removed the front corner bulbs, deleted the legal disclaimer popup on iDrive and added DVD video in-motion.

I was driving around earlier with my seatbelt off, a smug look on my face and Talladega Nights playing in full screen on the iDrive.
Do any contract coding for a fellow BMW owner in McKinney? I'd like Vehicle In-Motion...

DVD in-motion is a bit tricky but I can do it. I'm taking my car into the dealer soon for a code update so I'll have to re-apply all my tweaks again. Once that's done, I should feel practiced and confident enough to code other cars in the area ('09+).

I have the cable and the software, but been to nervous to attempt coding my car yet. Do you go to the Saturday end of month meets, or the Coffee and Cars? If so, would you be willing to watch as I do it to make sure I don't mess something up?

Is the cars software covered under the warranty for updates? I know that some people said they had to pay around $500 to have their software updated. Not sure if mine needs it since it is a 2011

I've been spotty lately but am trying to get out more to the Saturday meets. I was out at the monthly E90post meet and C&C last weekend.

Unfortunately, unless your car is suffering from a condition that warrants recoding, you'll have to pay out of pocket for shop time. I think Classic charges ~$240 for a code change and update. I assume the latest update is compatible with v45 daten on the coding forums.

Doesn't sound horrible. Classic is where I bought my car and they seem pretty good about cutting deals.

Oh, on that note, for anyone that has dealt with classic, what's their take on mods? Do they overlook them, or big time picky? I know it is probably folly to take it to BMW of Dallas, even though it is closer to my apt, and I liked the tech guys at Classic. If not classic, what is a good mod-friend dealer in the area?

Yea, I mean if I do ever need a warranty claim I'll do a back to stock on the car. BUT, I don't want there to be issues when I go in for the free oil changes and stuff.

you think they "forget" what they saw when you came in for an oil change??? Really?

My car goes back to stock (As much as possible- I can't change my suspension or take out the oil cooler) every time it goes in. Personally- I would NEVER drive my car on dealership property with a tune on the car. Just asking for trouble.

Well as it stands I have a JB4 and a charge pipe for the car. May get a downpipe in a few months. For an oil change and topping the fluids they really shouldn't be rooting around the car. I'll be taking the JB4 off the car when I take it in anyways, because it is pretty quick to unhook the harness.

And no I do not think they'll "forget" but the chances of them noticing mods are less likely if they are doing say an oil change or topping off fluids/doing routine maintenance as opposed to them having to warranty out new parts for something that blew or messed up. And technically they shouldn't be voiding my warranty because I have a mod. It should only void if something goes wrong with the car that could be attributed to the mod, but I know that dealerships will do whatever they can to screw you over. "Oh you put on a charge pipe and your radio stopped working? Well, the charge pipe obviously caused the radio to go out, so we are voiding the warranty." Sucks because I know there are some dealerships out there with cool SA's. That are at least honest enough to look at an issue and know that it wasn't caused by the mod and fix it.

So, a few weeks ago, someone posted some places to go to do alignment. Jess's car has been out-a-whack for ever and we've had it aligned at a place that said they were one of the "best". Someone said something about a shop that works on alignments for race cars. What are some other ones, if nothing good, I will just take it to Classic and try them.

Cobb quoted me $99 on an alignment a couple days ago.

Last I talked to cobb they said they can't do all the resetting some angle to zero and a few other things that Classic BMW spouted off that an alignment for BMW entails in their attempt to convince me to bring my car in to them every time it needs aligned.

Don't mean to change the subject but has anyone ever been to Dallas Karting Complex? I really want to do a couple laps this spring break. Their +60mph karts look tempting

Was hoping to go this Sunday but the weather doesn't look too promising (first time). They were handing our coupons at the last cars and coffee

If you are open to doing it, let me know when and how much. I am tech savvy and have been tempted to buy a cable to do my own but am admittedly nervous about doing it.

I've been 3 or 4 times - its pretty fun and your ribs will probably feel it the next morning. They used to not have seatbelts on the karts, which felt a little unnerving at first, though they've added them now.
