Ok, so after driving around with a KNN drop in + charcoal delete for a while (had a euro airbox + KNN cone installed for 4-5 months) I'd recommend anyone who is on the fence about the euro box to get it. From my experience, the euro setup is, I'd say, over twice as potent as the KNN drop-in. Notable improvement with idle, acceleration, etc., with the euro box; this thread paints a pretty accurate depiction of it. Consider the drop-in + charcoal delete a 'taste' of the euro box but by no means a substitute.

I paid just under $200 for my euro box, another $35 for the new filter, and at that cost, I'd consider it a no brainer. At $400-500 it really depends. If i just bought a 328 vert that I was planning to keep for years as a weekend car, I'd go for it. If I had a leased DD, probably not worth the cash.

Will be cleaning my intake valves sometime soon...I expect more of an improvement from that procedure than anything else on a 100k+ car.

My final advice is to monitor ebay.co.uk. E90s are the most common car over there, and though most have smaller engines, air boxes do pop up on a regular basis. Note the 130i has the same box. Ask for international shipping, I expect it to come to around the $250 range, with another $40-50 for the KNN filter. At that price, seems like a deal.

If you're considering $500+, why not just wait for a used PE? Those pop up once in a while on the boards and go for about that much.

What's the best place to get this? Any word on the group buy that was being liked around? I suppose for most everyone it's price that dictates interest.

You can either get it from ECS tuning or browse ebay.co.uk periodically and see if you can get a used one. I went with the ebay route and was able to get one for $150 shipped. Even came with the MAF, although I have no idea if it works lol. Installed it this morning and enjoying it a lot .

You either have an air leak when you reconnected the inlet tract piping between the MAF and the intake, or you forgot to reconnect a wire that you disconnected to install the air box...

If the reason behind you installing a different airbox is to get more noise for 'hey look at me' result - then you'll be disappointed with the Euro Airbox. The noise is only slightly louder than normal airbox, don't even know if you would notice it in a video...

Euro install simply adds better breathing due to deletion of charcoal filter, addition of K&N round filter over flat panel filter, & larger volume. Also makes it EZ to replace/clean your filter, since now all you have to do is remove a couple screws and the airbox lid from the top instead of having to tear the entire box out and take apart to get to the filter.

Sure, you could just hack out the factory charcoal filter and install a flat panel K&N in your original box, but I liked the design of the Euro box and the fact I could get a CF lid for it. Plus I only paid $50 shipping for mine as I traded even up with a member from Singapore

I haven't checked on this thread for a while... Oops.

Are you guys interested in a video showing the sound of the car revving at the intake side and the exhaust side?

I've just put my OEM intake on the car and wow... There is no way i'm gonna put another open box intake on one of my car EVER.

It feels so nice, quiet and you can feel the pull all over the band. With my aFe, I had WAY too much hot air sucking into the engine and the low rpm torque was MIA.

Now I got a K&N filter coming my way since my ETA for the Perf. Intake is late november

I also removed the charcoal filter; of course.

After several months of diligent looking I finally found and secured a euro airbox for my 328. I got it for a fraction of the cost that ECS is asking, which was my goal. Mine came off a 2008 325 from Australia. I have installed it and everything went well since I already had some experience taking out my airbox when I cut out the carbon filter. I put the euro box in with a used stock paper filter and fired it up, no codes, great. Have gone for just a few drives and can feel the difference as the car pulls much harder above 3000 rpm. I had been planning on getting an AA tune in Oct., but now after a few spirited acceleration runs I am really questioning my plans to get the AA tune.

Here's my experience with the euro box. The noise vs stock is slightly louder but me PE exhaust got louder also. As for performance gains, I really can't tell a difference in WOT accelerations but the car idles better and seems to be more responsive in regular driving conditions.

This comparison is based on Factory air box with new factory filter vs Euro Air box with new factory filter.

Car: N51 automatic, e90, fitted with a PE exhaust.
UP next is PBX -piggy back tune and K&N filter.

Next you need the PE, then the AA tune. I'm dynoing later this week with all three.

I already have a PE along with the Euro box. Deciding between AA tune and PBX. I know AA tune gives results in Dyno but haven't really seen comparisons of PBX and AA in driving feel.
