Euro Headlight Switch Questions?
So I installed my Euro Switch today to activate the rear fogs. Easier than I expected, took only five minutes or so.
I have a few questions though: 1. Is the switch supposed to illuminate when ignition is on, with all headlight/parklights off? I don't remember the stock switch being this way. I don't want to test it by installing the stock switch again and damage any clips upon doing so. 2. Is there a way to code the E90 so I can turn on the rear fogs without having the front fogs or park lights on? For those who do not know, the fog lights have to be on to turn on the rear fogs. Cool extra rear fog indicator on the dash Last edited by ducatiti; 06-19-2019 at 08:50 PM.. |

Nope there are no lights to go to the button, just like the regular fog lights. And for me the front fogs dont need to be activated when I use my rear fogs. It could be because I drive with my parking lights on, not sure. I can't remember the bulb type but nothing a little googling can't help. I doubt you'll ever have to replace them.

Weird that you can turn on the rear fogs with the fog lights off. There is no way for me to do that. Does your euro switch have a non functional dial like mine? |

I checked out the bulb for the rear fog on my stock tail light. They are long and skinny compared to the other bulbs in the tail light assembly. I guess I can use those as spare.

I should have been more clear my apologies. The button for the fogs does not illuminate. At least not my.. Lego version. Then again I haven't paid attention so maybe the EU switches do
My switch is the OE US switch that came with the car. I just did my own version of the 'lego mod' with whatever I could find laying around the house. So for me no dial. I think that's a dimmer for the interior lights though (like the cluster LEDs). Could be wrong but that makes the most sense to me. The rear fog bulbs from what I've noticed have a weird connector. When I was looking for them myself awhile ago I couldn't find a single place in town that had one.

Actually my question was if your whole switch lights up when the ignition is on without park or headlight on. I just checked with my stock switch, they do light up as well which I just never noticed before. That's probably why you can turn on the rear fogs on without the front fogs on, because you did the lego mod with the stock US switch From what I read, the dials are supposed to be adjusting the headlight level for the euro e90's while the US versions got the auto adjusting headlights. |

This is one of the mods I can't believe I waited all these years to activate, something that is just waiting to be turned on lol. Bulbs and wiring are already there for us. All we need a euro switch or lego mod.. As a teenager growing up, I had my 1996 Toyota Corona Exsior professionally done to have rear fogs to complete my euro look
Best $30 mod for me, that can be potentially free for anyone. |

colorado.e9x , did you ever think of just having one rear fog on instead of two? I wonder if this can be done by simply removing the other bulb and some coding?

Totally possible. Remove whatever one you don't want and code out the hot and cold checks. Though I don't know why you would. Btw they're great for 'brake checking' people

I did this mod months ago and only use it when backing up in a dark area for more lighting.
Using a pick i engarventhe folight symbol into the lower button, haha. I didn’t use the LEGO mod, so it does illuminate. Instead of the LEGO mod, you get the white piece from a donor light switch and use it so light can pass through it. I’ll do a diy on it. Last edited by Serf27; 06-21-2019 at 12:05 PM.. |

The white oem piece? Yea it’s solid but almost a transparent white that allows light to pass through it and illuminate the button same as the front foglight button. I’ll post the diy tonight, have to do it on my e91 anyways so I’ll take some pictures.
Just checked, the piece has a hole in which light passes through. Last edited by Serf27; 06-21-2019 at 09:44 PM.. |

In case you don't know about this - under normal braking only one set of brake lights light up. Brake hard, and all four light up to provide more warning to drivers behind you. And I agree that the most useful function of rear fog lights is getting idiot tailgaters to back off. Two is better than one for that.

Coding out bulb checks will? I haven't, no reason to, but I'm curious. Also, for anyone curious what he's referring to; its called Brake Force Display
