Guys we need a follow up report on this! Did anyone who had the sound in the video pull a starter and see ruined starter/flywheel teeth?!?

The flywheels is made out of VERY tough steel. My flywheel and bendix gear was fine when The shop pulled it.

Hi All

At last car is fixed, had to take it to a Automatic Transmissions Specialist.
No more noise when engage R or D on a cold start.
The issue was some valve bodies needed repair in the gearbox.

Hope this helps anyone else in the same boat...

Cheers

I thought the issue was with the starter motor system not with an automatic transmission?

2018 - Can anyone who resolved this issue help me?

Hi-

My 2011 328i xdrive 58k miles is making a new high rev/gridning/accelerating noise when I start it up in the morning. It doesn't sound good. The noise goes away when I turn the steering wheel.

This only does it when the car has been sitting for about 10 hours or more. The longer it sits, the more aggressive the noise. It has nothing to do with the temperature outside. The car sounds normal and drives fine, no warning lights or anything once I adjust the steering wheel and this goes away. Power steering fluid appears to be fine.

Could anyone help me diagnose this? Loud rev noise when car has sat, stops when i turn the steering wheel in park.

Thanks for your help - First time posting
