How to: QUADS for the n52. Pics.

Many people have asked me about my quad setup and how i did it so i figured id write a little something up.

First let me say this was all the work of John@CVT Muffler in Houston, Tx. He's the artist behind this one.

On our n52 cars, there is a metal box on the right side behind the bumper that is in the way of being able to run a pipe comfortably or without a 90 degree bend. What needs to be done is the following.

#1) Build a Bracket (basically a metal plate) and weld it onto the metal box
#2) Measure out the tips (for how much they stick out and stagger) and cut them accordingly so that they have a straight back end. Weld them to the bracket.
#3) Cut the tips off your other muffler is necessary and have new piping/tips welded onto the muffler on the other side to match the right side.
#4) You will likely want to spraypaint the bracket black so that it almost dissapears to the naked eye from more than a foot away.

Here are some pics. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I paid $100 for labor and they are Dimisa 3.5'' Black Powdercoated Tips.

Can we remove those compartments underneath and install another exhaust? I think it's doable.

imo its a good setup.
for the looks of it
And its a good balance between performance vrs looks
plus, OP managed come up with a solution of not losing much low end torque performance...
to me spliting n52 to quads is even more of a fail due to not having torque at all LOL i mean minivan will probably keep up with it on exit power.

i disagree. i think for the most part e90 has supportive members but there are for sure a good number of members in e90 commuinty who's maturity level that are
unfortunately they're also annoying loud group of kids.

5-6 series community has much less noise.

hmmm thanks for posting.

Is it possible to get 335 quad type spacing? closer to the center?

I want to do quads at some point and don't want them spaced away so far from one another, on 335 quad they seem to be just a bit closer (but still further away from each other compared to m3 quad spacing)

Would this be possible with your method?

I have been thinking I would just try to do some type of custom piping but not sure how to navigate around that big box. I know guys have done full quads before with the closer spacing on 328s, I guess I'll have to ask them.

Thanks for pictures, those tips look amazing! and the car

please don't do what the OP did if you're going to do quad exhaust... PLEASE. Might as well throw spinner hubcaps on your car too...

btw... @ramirez330i: if you spent $100 in labor to do this, why not save another $80 and just epoxy those suckers on there? ... just as effective with JBWeld i would assume...

Add this to your next DIY:

I really don't understand the fascination with quad tips, so much that folks will slap on bootleg tips (expensive tips I might add which makes it even more ironic) to their B M W.
