Is there anyway installing a pnp harness that tucking the wires in the firewall direction that they could be in the fan? I don't hear any noise, but just want to make sure. |

It's only if you drop anything small and loose. The fan could eventually suck it up and get clogged or damaged.

I think I have this noise as well, I am going to unplug it first to make sure.
I'm wondering if you can take the ECU box out and just fish the tape out through the hole that is left in the firewall. Thoughts? X... |

Just as another datapoint, mine was making a noise like a bad CPU computer fan every time I started the car after a long period of time. Just like computer fans, this fan kicks up full speed to start as the monitoring of the temperature isn't working the first seconds of system startup, therefore the fan speed kicks on to full just in case. After a few seconds, it spins down and possibly turns all the way off, but low enough to where you can't hear it. I've also been able to hear it on very hot days, 80 degrees+, when it is actually trying to help cool the ECU box under the hood.
I finally decided to dig in under the dash and find the little bugger and, though I found no debris inside it, I did find that it was completely unattached to where it is supposed to be, just hanging free back there from its wires. I could not get it to make the noise on starting the car, so I just snapped it back in place to the other half of its housing on the firewall (bit of a PITA behind the big wiring bundle, but somehow got it done after mostly freeing the fuse box). We will see how it sounds over the next few days. If I have to end up replacing it, at least I'm now familiar on how to get it in and out. |
