Bluetooth obd2 scan tool

Just a quick post to ask if anyone on the forum has used a Bluetooth obd2 scan tool in connection with their mobile phone on their 3 Series? I've got an android phone and have been looking at an app called "Torque " which allows you to read obd2 information on your mobile. You also need to buy a Bluetooth obd2 adapter which can be found on Ebay for around £20. Anyone tried it, if so any good?

Here's a couple of videos below so you know what I'm on about. It's looking like no one on here has tried one

No, mate.
Not tried one of those.
I had a VAG COM for the Audi and now an ELM327 OBD2 cheapo job for the BMW and wifey's Pug.
Looks interesting, tho....
Report back when you get one!

not sure mate
but in the times today they reviewed a sat nav that did the same with a blue tooth dongle in obd port and said it would be a very important development in the future as all info would be displayed real time on the sat nav screen may have been a nav man cant remember sorry

Can you reset and clear codes with it?

Yes, according to the blurb on the website it allows you to read all the error messages and reset the engine management fault light etc. In reality I really have no use at the moment for one of these but for what it costs I might buy one out of curiosity.

Just looked at the vid! Looks awesome!

Boost gauge would be cool - have my phone mounted like the in the pic, so some extra data would look ace!

I think I want one

I got one from eBay used it on my Vxr worked a treat. Haven't tried it on the bmw.
With the eBay odb2 dongle you need to buy carefully as some have faults when plugged in
mine says it has faults but seems to work fine

ELM here and using BMWhat App - can read all codes and probe the ecu in depth. Gives BMW specific codes too. A bit limited off the iphone/ipad but on an android phone it can do some decent coding. It is still in development so more coding functionality is to be added. Decent customer support too.

Why do these seem to be more limited with the iphone? Is it down to the developers or are apple screwing us over again with their naff ISO software?

Apple does not support or allow the required protocol for the cable. You need the cable to code from an Apple device. Sucks a nut.
