Theoretically I think one could mount a 6hp to an N52 from a 28i car but I think that's way more trouble than it's worth, at that point just get a manual.
Yeah, manual swap is the best way to go if youre looking at swapping transmissions. Anyway, in order to get the 330i gm flash you must flash the ZB 7587776 via WinFKP comfort mode.

It would mount up in theory but it would be a programming nightmare I think. Manual swaps however, don't need to be coded and the swap is pretty easy if you're mechanically inclined.

BMW built the early E89's with the N52,MSV80 ,ZF 6HP so they are probably software compatible. Have not really looked but it's probably a second generation 6HP so life gets really good. If you like Automatics.

There were also a number of LCI 3 series with this trans.

What should I do for my LCI N52K now with DISA?
Should I pay extra for their "Tuner" to add better throttle response or 91 Octane tune?

ECS Tuning offer the service for $400+ but also charges $200+ for cable. That's just too much for $15 cable.

I wouldn't pay for a Turner tune, personally.

I believe Bimmerlabs you can also get an "aftermarket" tune above the 330i oe tune; They apparently have one for MILVs too

No idea on the cost but ill be looking into it soon for my brothers 328 (and hopefully they can do the same for my 530 N52)

xhp has unequivocally told me that there will be no gm6 tune.

ever.

I pestered them about it for a while.

I've not yet done the 330 trans tune.
who's got a link to a thread with the software numbers?

Unless I missed something the file that @kakapo was talking about, "ZB 7587776" for the 330i GM 6AT flash isn't in the bimmerlabs website.

I wonder if it'd show up if I had a project as a euro 330i e92

Where could I get my hands on the 330i gm file you guys are talking about?
Or is it a stock file that is available through winkfp

it should be a stock file in winkfp

but I don't know the software numbers well enough to look for it.

Actually, I can make it available to everyone if we know which cars it's applicable to.

I'll have to do some research and fiddling around because I haven't used Winkfp much at all except to flash the tunes, so have to figure out how to find the file and flash it.

If you could make it available on the website it would be easier as the stuff to make your 328 into a 330 would be mostly centralized there from engine to transmission.

All I need is the ZB# and which cars it could apply to (whichever have the GM 6AT). Even if it's just the people in this thread, that's probably 95% of cases.

Well the ZB is 7587776 supposedly according to the previous posters.

I double checked on realoem it looks like no e60 got the gm transmission at least no usdm car 525/528/530.

For E9x 328i up until 07/2007 it shows all of them with the gm box but then it has the 6hp and gm as options too, though I've never owned a 28i car with a 6hp. Same story with the 128i.

Seems as soon as the USDM 330i ends production in 08/2006, the European 330i goes from using a 6hp to the gm 6at. At least as per realoem.

Can't find an N53 equipped car that uses the gm 6 speed. Maybe it's because the n53 being based on the n54 wouldn't mount up? If there was I think it would be the ideal file specially for a modded n52 that will reach stock n53 power levels.

Also I just found out all the F10s with the N52 engine came with the ZF8. Thats a great transmission.

The ZB will probably be from an EU car. Also sometimes during transitions, BMW will use parts left in stock (parts bin cars, in a way).

edit: I do think 7587776 will work. it'z from an X3 3.0si, which also has the GA6L-45R.

It's available now. Note that the only supported cables are an ICOM or Bimmergeeks. Anything else could potentially brick your TCU, and I can't help you if that happens.

I can't test it but let me know if there's any issue with the batch flash.

The ZB 7587776 works for both me and one of my friend's cars. We both are currently running the Euro 330i transmission flash. I don't remember how he found it, probably from an old forum post, but I have to say that it has made a remarkable difference, the car seems to feel much better when I drove hard. I attached an image from INPA to prove that this ZB really works. Please make sure that you have a good power supply as I failed to flash my transmission before while trying to do this which caused me lots of needless stress.

I'll check it out, most likely I'll take the same course of action I did with the 330i tune and do it right after driving for a while so there's no chance of battery charge issues.

I'm using a bimmergeeks cable so I believe I should be in the clear. Are the steps for doing this the same as the other tunes? Open batch file and go?

Regarding the flash itself, I suppose it resets adaptations for the transmission, wouldn't it be beneficial to do it right after changing transmission fluid for best results?

It's exactly the same. If your DME flash worked, it should be no problem. you do have to change your DME to the GM1912, or just add another project for it, and if you want you can always download the stock trans tune again. You don't have to flash the program because they should be the same.

Just checked and found it. There's two GM 1912 options but seems they both have the same stuff. Hopefully the e83 x3 is the best one of all the 330i tunes we can get. I'll change the fluid this weekend or soon enough and flash it after driving it for a while, so I don't over-credit the tune for something a fluid change could have done.

After trying to change the fluid and stripping the fill plug.. (reason 8272678162 why I dislike xdrive, can't fit a socket over the fill plug)

I'm just gonna try flashing it today. Transmission shifts good so I have no worries about the fluids condition. Just hope the flash file is compatible with the car itself
