Purchasing a 2007 335... Need Advice.
I'm a long time member of a popular M3 forum, but have been visiting here for a while. I found a 2007 335 I'm considering purchasing. I've only been in the market for a 335 for about a week, need some advice regarding the info below.
Considering purchasing: 2007 335 Coupe, 14k miles, Graphite Metallic/Coral Interior, 6 spd, mint condition Purchase Price: $38,900 Trading In 2003 M3, 44k miles, SMG, Silver/black, excellent condition Trade In Price: $26,500 I'd like some input from those of you who have recently purchased a 335. Just wanted to make sure this is a fairly good deal. It seems like a decent deal when looking online at pricing, but I'm not exactly sure what people are actually purchasing pre-owned 335s for. |

The value of M3's have dropped a good deal the last 6 months. The market is flooded with M3's. I've been trying to sell it privately for the past 5 months. I started at about $34k... I'm now down to $29.9k and it still won't sell. I don't even get any calls.

I've found some sedans for less, but I haven't found any coupes yet for less.

rockne, what packages (i.e. sport/premium) does the E92 335 come with?
I'm assuming perfect service history etc...but 38K sounds quite reasonable since 14K miles is really not a lot. I wonder how much my 2007 E90 335i with only 8K miles would go for in late April/early May, since I'll be leaving US for good...

I leased a 335i E90 in December which had 12k miles. The purchase price was $39k. It has everything but navigation & sport. I'd say that price is about right, maybe $1k too high.

Because of my research I know it had premium package, and I think it had sport package as well. If I remember correctly the only option it didn't come with was cold weather. |

Still seems low. Regardless, at least drop the M3 from $29.9 to $27. Don't give the dealer the satisfaction or robbing you. Let the M3 savings go to an enthusiast.

It's been for sale for about 4 months. I started the price at $34k... and its now at $29k. Still no interest??? Its getting to the point where I would save the difference in the trade and private sale price on the sales tax of my new car. If I sell my car private party for $29k and purchase an E92 335 with no trade in for around $39k I would pay around $2750 in sales tax. If I traded my M3 in for the 335 I would only pay about $875 in sales tax. So trading it in for $26500 is the same as $28500 if I sold it private party. I can't even get interest asking $29000 for in private party. So really theres only a $500 difference. If these calculations are correct which I just did very quickly. |

Don't get a 335. Whatever it is, it is no M. You are going to get downgraded in every area, especially your leather. You are trading Novello quality for pigskin. Wait for a used M3 IMO.
Everytime I see a nice 2006 M3 vert at the dealership I wish I had that instead of mine. There is a mystique and street cred that I respect in the M.

However after test driving a 335 I was very pleased. The power felt almost the same, and the ride was much more comfortable. Not to mention the maintenance costs involved with owning a 2003 M3. The interior of the 335 I'm interested in felt and looked great, the seats are much more comfortable, yet still feel sporty. The coral interior made it feel like I was in a M3. My M3 also looks old, the new 3 series have been out for a while now. I think the E92 is a great looking coupe. Not the mention the values of E46 M3 are falling fast... really fast! Let me know if anyone thinks I'm crazy. |
