I always use the platinum petrol at Chevron ... not sure if I am wasting my money. Curious too to see what everyone else is using?

Chevron in the US I presume?

I use Shell V Power, not sure if this is necessary either.

How is V Power compared to Fuel Save? Really much better?

Only V Power here. I'm use to running on high octane gas. I tried Sinopec once out of desperation and my tail pipe tips got black fast man!

When i had my GTI, i only used the regular fuel-saver petrol from Shell and the car ran fine. I wonder if I can use the same type of fuel for the 335. I am sure it would be fine as well given that the fuel-saver has a very high octane rating already.

I wouldn't touch any of the China petrol companies. I wasn't joking when I said my tailpipe tips got black after running a full tank. I shouldn't have topped up a full tank.

This may be useful. http://www.shell.co.uk/home/content/...uels/fuelsave/

Oh crap, I used PetroChina! Will the poor grade fuel create knocking that would then destroy my engine? Seriously, once in a while using PetroChina I think is ok, as for sinopec, i never used that, and I don't intend to, haha. By the way, I have used the PetroChina station at Jardine's Lookout once or twice when visiting friends on HK island. Since Jardine is a rich neigbourhood, I see lots tai tais filling up there. I guess they don't know better? haha.

But which is better at the end of the day, caltex or shell's v-power?

A lot super/luxury cars in China are just using low grade petrol. The durability of your car depends on how you drive and maintain it.

i only use normal grades in shell / esso and caltex, after numerous trials on top grade vs normal grade, i dont really feel any difference at all, except on one occasion i've tried sinopec, it actually gave much more mileage than with shell / esso / caltex...

Hahaha. My friend who lives at Jardine's Lookout said that at first, all the "yao chin" guys who live there avoid petroChina like the plague and go to to the shell station at Wong Chuk Hang, but after a while, their rich housewives just can't be bothered, so gradually they just drove their SUVs and Porsches and Ferraris at PetroChina, quite a sight, haha.

To be honest, i think PetroChina should be ok for normal commuting, although shell or caltex might be better if you plan to hit the gas, hehe.

Chevron has techron added in it - all grades - keeps the internals cleaner. Or just buy a bottle of Techron and add it to the fuel tank now and again. Shell V-power is good too.

Was it sinopec that was involved with those lpg issue for taxi? Since we are using petrol, it should'nt be an issue for us. But still, that does raise a little bit of doubt. Or could it be that sinopec was sabotaged by rivals or criminal elements to damage their reputation? Talk about conspiracy theories, haha.

Just think about how many source (or from where) they are getting their own gas before they add their so called addictives to rip people off, in fact in HK we have not much options.

The gas stations in HK are runned like a monopolistic cartel right? They all have secret agreements to fix pricing so us as customers are screwed. Sure, there are some product differentation, but ultimately, we are worse off from the price fixing.
