Koni Special Active vs Bilstein B4?
Hi Guys,
I have an e92 335i m-sport and I'm wondering if I should upgrade my suspension to Koni Special Active (the new red ones) at all 4 corners, or should I stick to the Bilstein B4 22136602?! The reason I'm asking is that when I refreshed the suspension, I changed the front shocks with Bilstein for regular non-sport e90 as a mistake from the dealer and mine for not checking properly...and the rear with Sachs 311410 which were listed as the best OEM replacement for m-sport cars. Now, I would like to restore the balance, but not sure which path to take. Currently there are no stocks of 311405/6, so as per catalog is showing the above Bilstein shocks. However, the Koni Special Active marketing department did a great job, so I got really excited about them and I was wondering if they are really that good and worth the investment? Anyone using the Special Active (8745-1014 front and 8245-1094 rear) for m-sport cars? What I'm looking is a sophisticated and comfortable ride on the streets and sport performance on spirited drives. Thanks |

I have the Koni FSD at all 4 corners, basically the same thing as the Special Active but FSD is the old name. I replaced the sports suspension (in Canada, it's the same as m-sport) of my E90 and have been very happy since. No more pothole explosion, very comfortable but retains the handling of the stock sports suspension. Firm under hard braking and turning, but soft when going over bumps.
