REVIEW: RW Carbon Hamann Lip
I previously had a really bad fitting aero lip that I bought off ebay. Since my front bumper got a fresh coat of paint due to an accident, I wanted to go a different route. I was browsing around a ton of BMW mod websites and I came across this carbon fiber Hamann lip from RW Carbon. I am local so I decided to drop by to pick it up so that I can first see the product on hand.
COMPANY: I met with Eric who had the product ready by the promised date. We took the part out to do a quick fit check on my car. The guys are super nice and welcoming, and they drive BMWs, though not a 3series. PART- FIRST IMPRESSIONS: As far as I can tell, real CF because I can see individual strands of fiber in the sunlight. Also the CF weaving is a little stretched in the corners and bend areas so you can tell its real CF and not some wrap. There are some minor imperfections in the weaving but only if you look hard. Holes are pre-drilled and it comes with 8 self-tapping screws and washers. INSTALLATION: I installed the lip without removing the bumper. Install was a biaatch, especially without a lift or ramp. I had my mom helping my hold it up while I tried to put the first screw in. I tried using tape to secure the lip on one side while I screwed it from the other; didn't work very well as tapping into the bumper requires some force. Also because my screw driver is not magnetized, the screw and washer kept falling into the lip and I'd have to shake it until they fell through the pre-drilled holes! Not fun.... So what I ended up doing was while my mom and foot were holding it in place, I used the screws to put hard indents into the bumper first where the holes are. Then I used the screws and pre-drilled into the bumper without the lip so I wouldn't have a hard time screwing it in after. I was just hoping that the alignment afterwards was good... After that, the screws went in nicely. FITMENT: Fitment is good. Once all the screws are in, it mated with the bumper well. No unusual gaps or mis-aligned areas. TIPS: - You really need two people to install this if you are not removing the bumper. I couldn't imagine doing this by myself. - Put indents into the bumper where the pre-drilled holes first, then tap into the bumper without the lip so the screws go in easier once the lip it on there. - Put 1 screw on the right (while the other person is holding the left side up), then left, then right, then left, etc so it balances the load. Do NOT full tighten any of the screws until all 8 are in their locations. Adjust the lip if needed. Then fully tighten once everything is good. Overall, very happy with the product so far. Good company, good product, easy install.

As previously noted, I had the aero lip before. I just decided to change things up a bit as the aero lip got too tiring and too common. I wanted something different with CF.
Aero lip also costs more because a shop has to prep and paint. So an OEM aero lip would cost around $450-500 after all said and done. The Hamann lip was a little under 2/3 that cost. It's personal preference.
