Pretty sure most people that were here in 2011 have either moved on or don't visit this site anymore.

I for one am glad he did. For years after I bought my 2011 N55 I have heard of N54 superiority. N54 had a 5 year head start on exposure, aftermarket parts and tuning, did they not. I'll am good with a Pure 2, PI, e85, tuned N55. Of course dual Pure 2 N54s are out there, but how many. With stage 3 turbos the gap of ultimate power will be further narrowed between the two. We'll soon see how many of each blow up.

My N54 is faster because it's in a 250lb go kart.

I've had both and the n54 was faster. Both cars being identical, 6AT with identical FBO's, I had to run an E30 Map in my n55 to have the same results as my n54 running an ACN 91/94 tune. Here is my breakdown which is very accurate.

2009 335i n54 sedan Xdrive FBO

Mishimoto intercooler
vrsf catless downpipes
ACN 91/94 tune

Best et run on pumped gas was 12.29@113MPH
I never ran the E30 Map on my n54 as it wasn't available at the time for me before I sold it.

2011 335i n55 sedan Xdrive FBO

wagner evo intercooler
vrsf catless downpipe
E30 tune

Best et run on E85 was 12.22@112MPH
If I ran the ACN 91/94 tune on my n55, my best et run was 12.58@109MPH

Newer N55s are faster stock but that's all. Mod-for-mod, every step of the way, the n54 will be pulling further ahead. However, $ for $ might be another story given how maintenance-intensive the n54's tend to be.

Probably because of the tiny n55 stock turbo?
