Help Random cels and engine malfunction

Background - car has 92,000 last carbon cleaning at 45,000. Car has been well maintained and reliable.

got first cel of 4D03 and 4D16. Forced a regen and cleared the codes. I drove the car for 200 miles with no problems, thought it was fixed. Then it happened AGAIN.

Driving it home another cel then engine malfunction reduced power came on. When I was stopped at a red light the engine was idling rough like there was a miss.
When reading these codes they were - 4F6F, 4BD9, 4D16, 491F. The 4BD9 and 491F have to do with injector six.

Cleared them one more time and within five miles got 491F , 4F6F and Engine malfunction light again.

I am stumped, my dealership closed, the nearest one is about 70 miles away.

Any Ideas what may be wrong?

Sounds like it could be an injector:

Need better code reader. Could easily be CBU again as you are at 2x mileage of initial cleaning. Not sure where in NC you are but BPC can help you with the issues if near Raleigh.

Well I thought I had a good code reader - it is a Foxwell nt510. Maybe I need to try drilling into the diagnosis a little more.
I Guess I'll have to give BPC a call, they are a little further away but I may want them to do a few other things at the same time.

With the "engine malfunction reduced power" light and it running rough, would it be safe to drive the 70 odd miles?

My n00bie advice, Get some Marvel Mystery Oil or Stanadyne, Put it in ~ half a tank but it will still work higher up in the tank, This will help with some of the carbon on the injectors, It may also be a clogged EGR, Driving the 70 miles you may have to pull over, Shut off for a minute and restart and flooring it getting back on the road, Try to keep the RPM's high ~2k or so, This will clear the EGR eventually while the Marvel Mystery oil helps with the injectors which may be clogged by now.
Last time I did this driving to my BMW stealership my SES cleared it self, I was practically begging the BMW dealership to help hoping there were still recalls active on my car and my broke ass certainly couldn't afford the stealership prices.

Now when I drive I generally keep my RPM's up in the higher ranges either in manual mode or periodically pumping the accelerator and I haven't had a limp mode since and they generally are occurring at half a tank, Anyone know why at half a tank?

thanks for the suggestion - I already have some Seafoam in my tank. When I took it for a ride yesterday, it started out REALLY rough but smoothed out some after a couple of miles. I will try to find that Stanadyne at the parts store.

When i talked to the dealer they quoted me $1700 to replace that injector - I may try your suggestion first.

People have had luck with a double dose of Hotshots Diesel Extreme clearing up injector issues, could be worth a try.

Car is 335D I had never heard of water coming in top of the injectors. I took the cover off of the top of the engine and it looks like it covers all the way back to injector five. Looking under there with a flash light it does not look like there was any water ingress. But thanks for pointing it out.

Doing the search a thread came up about lack of a water seperator on the fuel line. Just curious if this is something that many people add?

I think water in my tank is giving me periodic problems when the tank is low so I haven't heard of people doing a mod like that but that may be something to look into.

Sorry old thread but an update - replaced injector six and it fixed the problem for a while.
Filled up where I usually do and headed home - at the same exact place where the first injector died another injector died, injector 4 died. No such thing a coincidence so I no longer buy fuel there. I ended up having to replace all injectors and get a carbon cleaning. $$$$$

I was told by two sources that injector failure is common around 100,000 miles - anyone else see this?

I now have a 4D03 code again - exhaust backpressure sensor - Does anyone have picture where it is located and a part number?

Injectors are at the end of the emissions failure chain on this system. It's an endless cycle. Electronic engine management adjustments fail to overcome efficiency loss as CBU progresses. Downstream effects of increased particulate and DEF consumption accelerate CAT and DPF use rates as detritus accumulates, ultimately on the injectors tips.

You can get dirty injectors pretty quick on these cars in stock form, if you're not careful.
