E90 325XI 4x4, ABS, DSC, Brake Light ON!
Hi Guys,
I got the above mentioned lights on and when I read the codes I saw the following ones: 5E26 - DSC: Wheel Speed, Air Gap, Front Left 5E22 - DSC: Wheel speed, Supply, Front Left 5DEC - DSC: Transfer Case: Malfunction I got the front left ABS Sensor exchanged with a Delphi one and the lights went away for some time. I didn't drive the car much but when I did, there were no errors. There were also heavy rains and the car got really dirt so I got it cleaned after a few weeks when it stopped and the day after that I went on the highway and the lights came back. I checked the codes and there were the same ones + 2 further ones: 5E26 - DSC: Wheel Speed, Air Gap, Front Left 5E22 - DSC: Wheel speed, Supply, Front Left 5DEC - DSC: Transfer Case: Malfunction 55C3 - AWD Limp- Home Control Activated. No DSC Specified Norminal Torque 55C6 - Wheel Speed Error, Receiver VTG, Transmitter DSC My indy suspects it is because of the Delphi Sensor and that we should use an original BMW one. Could this be the case? Thank you in advance! |

See if the axle is rusted and rubbing against the sensor. Common problem.

There is always a chance of bad sensor, but likely very-very slim. My personal experience as follows: - E91: both rear sensors (actual sensor failure) - E90: factory faulty replacement bearing magnetic stripe (sensor was OK) As already noted: - the sensor could be rubbing against rusted axle: unscrew it and check for any scuffs - if you have ISTA: check the speed values reported while car is in motion. Another option is to swap currently installed L/R sensors and see if codes follow the swap. If so, than the issue is with sensor itself. If not - additional diagnostics will be needed

Hey guys,
So short update. I dropped my car at a better shop yesterday. They called me today and said the issue is from the ABS ring and drive shaft. The whole left axle has to be replaced and after that they will check if the sensor is OK or whether it needs replacing as well (already replaced the sensor with Delphi one). The repair won't be cheap but I hope that fixes the issue. BR, Tical |

So they replaced the ABS ring and sensor and so far no new errors. I hope this is a permanent fix this time.
