CBU Cleaning and Adaptations - 2011 335D

Hey guys,

I'm planning on walnut blasting my ports tomorrow and just had a few questions about adaptations afterwards. After I put the car back together, I will need to reset adaptations correct? From what I read I need to reset:

- Air mass flow sensor
- Increment wheel
- Reset correction values of injectors
- mean quantity adaptions
- Rail pressure regulating valve
- throttle adaptation reset

These can all be found under ISTA + under Vehicle Management > Service Functions correct? I haven't used the program before, so not 100% familiar. (are there any good sources/threads to learn how to use the program?)

Also can the vehicle be running during these resets? or will the car need to be turned off? If its off, will a trickle charger be enough to keep power to the car while the resets are performed?

If you have any other tips on ISTA after a CBU cleaning, please let me know.

Thanks in Advance!

As far as I know you do not need to reset rail and injectors. Just MAF, mean quantity and increment wheel. You do need to perform proper zero-quantity learning after the reset. Usually, you can not reset mean quantity with regular K-dcan, need an icon setup or get dealer to do it. You can reset with running motor. Otherwise, please have a very good power supply. One item I do not know is if you need to reset EGR adaptations. In my mind yes.

Can you explain the "You do need to perform proper zero-quantity learning after the reset."? Is this something within ISTA+? I was able to run all adaptations except the mean quantity. It failed, is that adaptation 100% necessary or will the car automatically adjust after driving it for a period of time? Just prefer to not go to the dealer if I can.

Also for anyone looking to do this in the future, I did have to turn the car off for the procedure. When the car was running the adaptation menu item didn't appear in my ISTA+ under Service Functions.

Usually if it failed with ista. It's because your integration level is not up to date to do so. I wouldnt trust the swahben tool. But that's just me. ALL adaptations must be reset with KL15 on not engine running.

Ista p. You have to find the bulletin for this issue. I'm not going to be looking for it for you. Sorry
