Don't remove the fuses you will have a very strange behavior because of all braking system error...just unplug the actuator motor of the transfer case...what you describe is most probably torque converter shudder.

Thank you! So do you think a proper fluid change with filter will solve the problem? It's only 37K miles, but car is 2007, it was sitting for 3 years in garage unfortunately without driving.

Thank you again! I'll do it then. Just one more question - should there be any codes for Torque Converter shudder - because with my Carly tool I can't see any yet? Thank you

Another silly question - how to find out if I have a GM or ZF transmission? Any visible differences easy to check or just by VIN code? Thank you

P.S. I'm trying to order filter, gasket and fluid.

my tech said NOT to change the filter and gasket, only the fluid

please look at my thread (specifically the SIB and flow-chart i posted)... seems to be a problem with the GM transmissions in our cars... I am going to do a transmission fluid change tonight, and see if my issue gets resolved. if not, i'll add the friction modifier to the fluid and see what happens. if that doesn't work, either a new torque converter or transmission.

Oh, ok then! So just fluid change? Please keep us posted if that will solve the issue.

P.S. did tech explained reasoning why not touch filter and gasket? Just curious. Thanks

no, the service advisor did not state why the tech said that... presumably, if it's not broke, don't fix it mentality? maybe too much of a shock to the transmission if I change it all?

i will certainly post on my thread the results of the fluid change, so check back there.

When my front passenger CV joint failed, I got vibration under load.

I pulled the xDrive/DSC fuse (20 or 26) and the vibration went away.

The car drove normally, I just had no safety systems, no road speed, etc.

I highly doubt changing fluid will help.

Btw, do not cheap out on aftermarket axles. We put them in all the time and they always fail within miles.....

The shafts themselves are normally ok, but the boots fail.

Was that vibration constant under load or only for 1-2 sec?

At first, it was only first few seconds of accelerating.

As it got worse, it would vibrate any time I was applying throttle until I reached cruising speeds. As soon as I added load, it would vibrate. It got to the point where I thought my car was going to fall apart. When I pulled the axle, the bearings just dropped to the floor.

Check your control arm bushings, i had a similar issue. Found out my lower control arms had no bushings at all 78k miles in.

My control arm bushings are fine. I replaced them with poly awhile back. The issue was a bad CV joint.

My issue has already been solved.

Not sure if you got this fixed yet, but I had the same issue and turned out to be a bad oil cap which was causing air to mix in with the oil. Didn't happen all the time, but definitely made the car behave erratically.

That being said, my water pump just went as well, and leading up to the failure I noticed that throttle response in general seemed to be off for the last two weeks leading up to the car totally overheating and going into limp mode.

Hi WhiteBeard , did the fluid-only change solve the issue?

The way OP edited this post has got to be the stupidest thing I’ve seen here in a while. (I know it’s from 2016.)

How the hell someone could think that removing your description of the issue you’ve since solved and replacing it with SOLVED does anything for posterity is beyond me.

I’m sure it wasn’t done with ill intent, but LOL…
