confused on measuring width
I picked up a set of DPE GT7 square setup, the seller had them on e39 M5 and i was told that they are 18x9.5 unknown offset with 275/35/18. So I took off the tires to measure according to a youtube video that i found.
The overall width of the wheel is measured 10" (254mm) The TRUE width is measured 9" (228.6mm) Backspace is measured 150mm The offset is calculated by 254mm(overall width)/2 - 150mm = -23mm which is positive ET23, does this sound right? My question is that when all the vendors advertise spec on wheels, are they overall width or TRUE width? Are my DPE 18x9 or 18x10? I have a set of 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 on my msport wheels that I want to put them on the DPE, do you think that they will fit? my E90 LCI is lowered and fenders are rolled. Thanks in advance =) |

They use actual width, which is measured from beadseat to beadseat. You are pretty much correct about the offset at least it's pretty close. This might be helpful for you http://www.flushstance.com/wheel-measurements/
As far as fitment 18x9 et23 square with 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 will fit, since you have rolled fenders.

MonacoBlueE90, I'm planning to just use those staggered tires for now, though they might look funny with a lot more stretch in the front... what would you suggest tire size on square setup? 235/40/18?

Yeah you will have little bit different looking stretch, maybe 235/40/18 front and rear, but i suggest checking the front fender clearance with 225/40/18 first.

Do you have any spacers at rear currently with those style193? You most likely need to raise the rear, well you should anyway as it's not even with front.

Well this is how the new rear would compare to your old http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...et2=23#content
9 et23 would extend 8mm more at rear and front will extend 9mm compared to style 193with spacers, but tyres would be slightly more stretched.

Thanks MonacoBlueE90, turn out my front fenders aren't rolled but the rears are and I just took the car to a fender rolling guy, he suggested to raise up the suspension first because the car is just too low to fit those DPE wheels that they will rub the fenders and also where the fenders meet the bumper.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=814434 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=313 My rear is shaved like that, but at front with 19x9.5 et22 and 225/35/19 i havent done any fender work. Well except when i air out it migth have pushed the fender more towards outside. Also have notice that the fender/bumper bracket does hit my tyre sidewall at front so i need to get it modified.

installed the wheels and raised the coilovers, there are still room to add spacer both front and rear, I'm planning to raise the rear a bit more and put thicker spacers.
