Clutch slipping

My car is making + 130 ftlb torque and I think clutch has started to slip. WOT in 4th and somewhere between 3500RPM and 5000RPM the engine revs faster than the car moves.

Is 21207603248 the right part number for 550i clutch? Realoem shows F10 550i and E92 335is has this clutch but cant find what E60 550i has.

Will it fit the stock flywheel? Any modifications?

People used this back then but is the 550i/335is clutch still a good choice for up to around 500ftlb? Any alternatives on the UK market? Read someone using it for 570ftlb and it didnt slip.

I dont intend to go much over the power/torque I have now.

Bump
Anyone know if the 550i/335is (21207603248) fits the oem stock flywheel of 2007 6MT 335i?

You should be fine as long as you’re not doing burnouts or any other forms of abuse. I’ve been running this clutch for the last 7500 miles at ~470-490wtq (temp dependant) and no slippage as of yet.

The Luk Repset package here is what you need and for good measure, I got a new OEM flywheel (as well as a bunch of other associated bits for a refresh) at time of replacement as well:

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...lutch+kit,1993

Might be also a good time to get the shifter/carrier bushings done - one regret I have that I didn’t do as a “while you’re in there” type job.

I'm in the same boat. Leaking RMS with a slipping clutch. Did you reuse the original clutch fork? Looks like a good savings if you reuse it compared to other websites. Great tip on upgrading or replacing parts for the shifter

Probably overkill, but here’s what I replaced for good measure:

Luk 335is clutch kit 21207603248 with throwout/release bearing
LuK DMF112 Dual Mass Flywheel
-flywheel mounting bolts (#11227520706 x 8)
-clutch fork pivot pin (#21511223328)
-spring clip (#21517570284)
-rear main crank seal (#11117587168)
-input shaft seal (#23127501712)
-output shaft seal (#23121222677)
-exhaust gaskets (18307553603 x 2)
-Transmission Mounting Bolt/Bellhousing Bolt (#23001222894 x 5)
-locking nut for guibo (#26127536563 x 6)
-zinc bolt for guibo (#26117527475 x 6)
-guibo (#26117605629)
-center support bearing (#26128615622)
Butyl Tape

Shoooter_j Thank you for the list! In your opinion is it stupid to NOT replace the flywheel when replacing the clutch?... I'd like to save $700.

I’ve read that folks have reused their orig flywheel depending on condition without issue, but I didn’t want to take the chance esp since my 3rd gear orig clutch slippage was bad. Its really up to your risk tolerance and if you need to pay to do the labor again vs DIY (and just the cost of your time for the latter).

Smart. I'm going the DIY route because I'm poor. My clutch started slipping a few months but I quit driving the car to prevent damage My dad told me if I see burn marks its toast. Hopefully the flywheel isn't discolored. You can get a tolerance gauge that mounts to the flywheel to test it, but I don't know if it's worth the trouble nor do I know where to find one.

Thanks Shoooter_j. This is excellent info. I am assuming DMF112 is the flywheel for a 335i? Because 335is says DMF164 or DMF312. Might buy the SACHS clutch as that particular LUK clutch is more expensive here in UK.

Good callout - depending on model year, you may have an 8 bolt (pre 2/2009) or 6 bolt (2/2009+) flywheel so make sure to get the one for your respective model year:

Did you use 8 bolt flywheel? Mine is likely 8 bolt (2007).

Can we still use the 335is clutch with the 8 bolt flywheel from 2007/2008?

Yes that’s what shoooter_j did as far I understood. Use 335is/550i clutch on a stock/oem 8 bolt flywheel of a 2007/2008 335i.
