2013 E92 N55 TTFS XDI HPFP review

Just wanted post an update on the results of my XDI HPFP upgrade for my 2013 E92 (originally with the low-flow HPFP). I chose the XDI HPFP route because I was not able to properly tune my daily-driver 335 because of it's low-flow HPFP (fitted to late N55s) and the resulting rail pressure drops under high boost causing motor cut-outs. However, I didn't want to get involved with 'science project' meth, port injection, etc, but with MHD now supporting XDI the car 'just works' to make great HP for a stock turbo.

Car:
  • 2013 E92 N55 6MT MSport, FBO (Wagner catted DP, ETS 5" Intercooler, BMS CP), NGK Iridium plugs gapped to .018
  • HPFP: TTFS/XDI-35 HPFP Upgrade For N55
  • Tune: MHD/Wedge/Steve B
  • Stock turbo, stock LPFP
  • Fuel: Pump 93

Data:
Bottom line is the car now makes great HP (20lb boost in second gear without fuel cut-out). In fact my tuner informs me I'm maxing-out the stock turbo, while the fuel pressure remains solid. Though this is not a cheap mod I love the 'factory'-like install and seamless integration.

Special shout out to Gabe at TTFS for the great XDI support, Wedge/Steve B for the tune, and Martial at MHD for making it all possible! PS2 next??

$2,300 for the HPFP? Whew gotta save up my lunch money on this one , Nice logs btw why are you gapping .18? Did your car not like the .22?

After (XDI HPFP) on pump 93 (solid fuel pressure and boost)

Glad you got the HPFP working but you might want to take care of those corrections. No bueno.

Tell me about that.. is something actually gonna get damaged, or am I just losing a little power? Conversely, if the car is *not* pulling timing doesn't that mean you are leaving something on the table? Gonna try a little E85 to see if that makes a difference.

I would say some E85, Or try re-gapping those plugs. I know most N55 like .22 anything other than that ive seen misfires & timing corrections. But if it works for your car, Send it!

Corrections are your car detecting and trying to prevent knock.

20psi on 93 aki means you need to run little to no timing to avoid knock.

Either pull 2psi out of the tune or have a few more degrees of timing pulled out at low rpms. You don't have the octane to support the current tune. Need to be at ~190 load instead of 200+.

There is a difference between tuned right to the point of knock and occasionally pulling ~1* of timing here and there vs your current logs where you are consistently seeing 3-4*+ corrections. The car probably won't blow up but you will have a much smoother and consistent tune if you just dial back boost 2psi and keep the timing higher. You won't even be losing anything and it will be safer...

New pump looks good! put some ethanol in the tank now and really test it out.
