Red boost pipe covered in oil

I replaced the underbody panel and noticed oil on the red boost pipe. Searched the forums and found out this is a common problem. Made an appointment with dealer. SA just informed me that they are sending an engineer case to BMW to approve the turbo replacement. My car is still under CPO warranty with 70k miles.

This has absolutely nothing to to with the turbo. The red hose is a POS by default.
Either do nothing, or if it makes you feel better: change both hose sealings (~5 $ each) and eventually change the crank case breather vent (~35 $) and it will be looking clean during the following weeks (but will be dirty again soon)

Catch can installation could also help to reduce this oil debris.

well it's covered under warranty but any downsides to replacing turbos if nothing is truly wrong with them?

Your dealer is on crack. I would not let them even touch a key to my car. Get a Forge boost hose and forget about these problems. New seals only will not fix this. Loss of boost also contributes to worse fuel economy.

Welcome to the club. They all leak like that. I had mine replaced under cpo. The replacement is an upgraded oe part. 15k miles so far and the red hose is still spotless.

I fitted the Forge replacement one after 2 sets of seals had been fitted on the OEM on in 12 months. Not a leak since and its been on at least 2 years now

I just bought a Forge replacement pipe for mine. However, I am waiting to install it until I can get clarity on whether or not I need to purchase a sturdier hose clamp to insure it does not fall off.

I replaced a bent control arm on the right front, and noticed my red hose is covered in black oil. how much of a pain is that to change? and is this my fuel mileage and slower times at the track?

Your fuel mileage and performance will suffer from this boost leak.

It's a small pain to replace. Pretty easy, but a little frustrating due to lack of space.

Yozh I have a forget pipe sitting in my trunk ready to be installed. Did you use something other than the Forge provided clamp to install it? I heard that the one provided was not up to keeping the pipe on.

I never had any issues with the Forge pipe staying on with the clamps provided. The connection at the turbo side is very solid, you can always utilize T-Clamps at the intercooler side if you wanted to.

This was my boost hose after being cleaned a little so that it could be removed.

And this is my new Forge boost hose with T-clamps installed.

I don't think T-clamps are absolutely necessary, I just had them installed for peace of mind.

ATM boost hose

This week I installed the Ambient Thermal Management turbo to intercooler inlet boost hose to replace the oil-covered red OEM hose. Results are better throttle response; a bit less noise from the engine bay; better mpg, and less spongy brake pedal.
Nice!

Mikalor Clamps/ T-Clamps on Wagner FMIC

just done the following myself would like to thank the user for recommending the following clamps aka Mikalor clamps!

The size was as follows: 73 - 81 mm Heavy Duty Stainless T Bolt Turbocharger Boost Pipe Hose Clamp 2.75"

here's an ebay link to mine:

Being mapped at Stage 2 the clamps provided by Forge M used to cause issues e.g. slip from the intercooler side which was fully rectified with the help of Mikalor Clamps

Forge M pipe with reinforced Mikalor Clamps fitted onto Wagner FMIC
https://ibb.co/tJTJ8dm

Another idea I had was to cut the OEM boost pipe and try and bodge it onto the Forge M couplings, unfortunately didn't work out, that being said BMW OEM pipe has more flex than Forge M pipe as well as is longer than Forge M pipe, see below:
