Australian Nav DVD Version #14
Does anyone have this new version?
In the recent BMW magazine it indicated it has school zones & blackspots. So does this mean it warns you of areas that are purely for government fund raising? |

I have version 14, haven't noticed school zones anywhere but I shall have a look if I can bring them up...M3s and 40 zones don't mix too well

I spoke with BMW Sydney this morning.
All school zones and 1800 blackspots are now on the navi disk. Cost is $495 so I will go on Monday and buy it. Will let you all know how it works but I am hoping it will mean I can get rid of my road angel from the dash. |

Why not just burn a copy of it off somebody who has it? $495 is BS!

$495 is a rip off!! Don't know why BMW persists with a DVD based sat-nav. A removable hard drive that allows navigation and music to be updated as required makes more sense to me. Last edited by parisianfox; 02-16-2008 at 02:10 AM.. |

I wouldn't want to pressure you, but if you make a DVD image of the disc, you will find it is not the gigabytes you'd expect. The image I made of my disc (using MagicISO) is only 350 megabytes (half a CD).

A new version doesn't imply that yours is faulty. It's evelotion as they add more features. Your in the same position as all other Nav uses that opperate Ver 13 Sensis maps. I have version 13 in my Tom Tom too. Surely BMW should give a free update to anyone that purchased a new car within the last 6 months and maybe a reduced rate for anyone within the last 12 months. |

Anyway I went to the $tealership this morning to buy a new disk, confirmed with the sales person that it has school zones & black spots so handed over my hard earned and left the building. Surprise surprise, no school zones or black spots anywhere. Looked through all the menu's etc and still nothing. So I then called the BMW 1800 number and they put me through to BMW Sydney. I spoke with 3 SA's, 1 parts person and a sales person. None of whom could advise how to display the promised items. So at the moment I am waiting for them to call me back to advise what I need to do to make it work. I suspect the info is on the disk but that the iDrive software cannot access it, meaning there may need to be a software update applied to the car to make it work? |

The marketing blurb from Sensis on the update changes to Version 14 is exactly what BMW is also advertising however I think WOPALAX is correct and the BMW system software will need an update.

Anyway I will be demanding that my SA gets it working, otherwise it's false advertising so I'll jump up and down big time. |
