Hard Brake Pedal at Cold Start????
After I reset the automatic transmission using the procedure below, my car has a hard brake pedal upon cold starts. At warm starts, the brake pedal is "soft" and can be pressed before starting the car - like it always was. At cold starts however (usually 1st start of the day), the brake pedal cannot be pressed in - it feels hard, to start the engine I press it with my foot and start the car, the car starts and the pedal softens (can be pressed down, normal feeling). Any body has a clue what caused it and how to get it back to normal?
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=gearbox+reset "1. Turn cars electronics on-push start button once or twice without turning the actual engine on. 2.Hold the gas pedal to the floor for 25 seconds 3. Most times you will hear the gearbox resetting itself and hear some "noise" coming from your car but not always noticable so dont worry if you dont 4 Now start your car and enjoy the gearbox reset to its factor settings and open for all new learning. The shifts are silky smooth again and shift points shift faster-basically it totally makes your tranny perform better. "

its called vacuum assist. It bleeds out over night, or if you pump the pedal multiple times with the car off, you will bleed the vacuum from the booster. Restarting the car will restore it.
Normal operation. |

I don't recall experiencing it before I did the AT reset. So both of you are saying you have it to upon cold engine starts? It has always been there?

It's always been there for me. It's completely normal. Nothing to worry about.

Brakes not working....occasionally
When I drove out of my basement garage in the morning, my brake did not work. It feelt extremely hard as I pushed down, but did not actually stop the car. It eventually worked after pumping the brake around 10 times. (Thankfully I was at the speed of 10KMH, so I didn't crash) After that, the brakes worked perfectly the rest of the day (about 50 kms of driving). The exact same thing has happened for two consecutive days now. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Car is a Nissan Altima 2001 with around 200,000 KM on it.
