Possible automatic transmission slip

Usually on cold starts when I start to drive occasionally my 2nd gear will Rev a little higher before it shifts and I think it has done it on 3rd gear too. Is this transmission slip or something else and has anyone else experienced this? My car is a 2011 335i

I remember reading about how the car will do that when cold to warm it up a bit faster. But I'm not 100% sure. Mine does it in 2nd while driving out of the neighborhood when it's really cold outside.

Yea man, I had the same "issue" when I bought my e93. My searches on these forums found it's basically due to software in the trans, which is standard and common. Not an problem.

I had to flash my trans with" xHP stage 2" for my custom tune and the "slipping/over rev" is gone. All my other shifts are firm and precise when going WOT, but super smooth when slow poking around town.

Normally this transmission locks the torque converter as soon as possible but it has a special cold start routine that allows extra slippage to help warm up the fluid.
