Lowering 2011 E92 xDrive

Need to lower my car about a 1 - 1.5 inches. I have ton of OEM wheel gap. Sorry, I'll try to post a picture soon once I figure out how. I'm new to the suspension world and lowering my car. I want a reliable setup. I figure Dinan is a good choice.

Any suggestion are welcome...2011 E92 335i xDrive

Thinking about going the Dinan route with the following:

B12 for xDrive is a popular choice. I'm happy with it.
The pics in my garage is outdated but you can check this one instead. Same e92 lci xDrive with b12.

Just search. This question is asked at least once a week. It's been covered so many times that it's becoming exhausting.

I have KW V1's an like them as well. Obviously they are adjustable so you can set the ride height wherever you want. Some shock/spring combos are still going to give you a reverse rake look on an e92, but I'm not entirely sure about the Dinan's. The V1's are comfortable to daily drive. I'd say they are a little bit stiffer than a 335i with the sport package.

i have the stock x drive suspension and this is floaty as hell but i got 2 youngs kids in the back and my wife who is very sensitive to my previous low cars. is there a big difference in daily driving comfort between stock xi and v1 ?

I'm seeing the V1s for a little over 1k. Is that right?

Most go with KW V1. I have Sonic Tuning S3 coilovers on mine for about the same price and I'm happy with them. They go a bit lower than the V1 can, though I don't have mine slammed, I'd rather have decent ride quality.

How much? I feel like i want to do Dinan springs and supplemental ride with rear shocks

There is definitely a difference between stock and V1, but it's still just fine for daily driving. My friend who had an e92 M3 and he thought mine was a little rougher. My girlfriend rides in my car and doesn't think it's too stiff either from a passenger standpoint.

What car(s) did you have in the past? I had a B5 Audi A4 with Koni coilovers and that was much harsher than the V1's on my e92.

I bought mine for $1,250 shipped 3 years ago. If you can get them for a little over $1k then I'd say that's a good deal.

B12 = Bilstein B8 shocks + Eibach pro-kit lowering spring.

This combo was so great/popular that the manufacturers themselves did a collabo and named it b12 afaik.

http://eibach.com/global/en/products...ms/b12-pro-kit

xDrive was designed to have some front rake/wheel gap because BMW engineers thought folks who choose xDrive would like to have some clearance for snow.

Anyways for that reason you need front struts designed to lower xDrive cars.

B8 struts for xDrives look like this: http://cart.bilsteinus.com/product/35-142478/309622/AWD

You can buy a set at topgearsolutions:
http://www.topgearsolutions.com/bils...90-e92-xi.html

I think the picture is wrong. It's not supposed to look like that but the part number seems correct.
Amazon has them as well and I think the price was cheaper there.

And then you can buy eibach pro-kit springs here:
http://www.topgearsolutions.com/bmw-...g-springs.html

You might wanna get H&R spring instead if you want more aggressive stance (a bit lower front) and firmer ride.

If your car's over 50k, consider changing front/rear upper/lower strut mounts and spring pads.
My front passenger side upper strut mount was bent and needed to be replaced. I would bring all the parts to the shop and return unused parts later.

Be careful when buying the front upper strut mounts.
I'm not sure what happened but BMW seemed to have updated the part.
The new part is taller, making it pointless to use lowering springs and all aftermarket parts I could find had the new design so I had to get the old original bmw part.

I bought these as well but haven't installed them yet. Is the ride harsh ? Can you post a pic ? How many turns on the dampers do you recommend ?

Ride quality has so many subjective parameters that what works for some may not be ideal for others. That said, the car handles like it should (ie, no more floating around at higher speeds, more stability and faster in the corners). The trade off is the ride is stiffer. You will feel the road and its inconsistencies. For me, I like it because it gives me more information about the road and I can adjust my driving accordingly. The look of the stock suspension was enough to sell me on the KW1! In its lowered form, the car looks the way it handles! Sharp! Well worth the cost and they come with a warranty.

You will feel more bumps in the road, but they don't bounce you all over. The preset damper does a good job absorbing the shock. Seeing how the KW1's have an adjustable ride height, you might be able to find a sweet spot between better handling and ride comfort.

I have this setup. Its a big improvement for ride quality and handling. I dont think its going to close the wheel gaps down the way you want - well at least not in the front.
