Custom Tranny tune

Hi!

Have been reading on the forums for a while. I came over DWR's thread on Custom tranny tune, but I saw he were banned on the forum so I could not PM him. Do he have a new account or do somebody else sell this type of tune?

Currently running xHP Stage 3.

Haha, any more details? I was thinking of getting one of the transmission tunes mainly to get rid of a quirk I've noticed. Upon starting driving, the transmission seems to be reluctant to shift from second to third. It seems to think the shift should happen at higher than normal rpm's. It feels a bit rough but once it happens the first time its acts normal for the rest of the drive. Seems to me that its related to low transmission oil temps. Not sure if this is a common issue but I was hoping one of these tunes would be able to smooth out that transition.

I got that same thing with low oil temps. I just pop it into M mode and shift it manually till temps warm up. Xhp might also get rid of that... I know they’ve optimize the warm up quite a bit in the updates through feedback... not sure though I never drive in D mode... always in M mode. Xhp I feel has a more responsive feel to it though. In D mode it goes through the gears a lot faster and the torque converter lock up in 4,5,6 is really nice nakes the car feel more solid in my opinion instead of sluggish like it is stock. I can wait for a cold morning though and keep it in drive and see if it holds that 2-3 shift like your saying and report back to you

Thanks for the detailed feedback, its much appreciated. With regards to the feedback on a cold morning, I'd certainly appreciate it if its not too much trouble.

Glad that the 10 remaining active forum members left can make informed purchasing decisions now...so much knowledge has been shunned from this board.

This place is ran by Nazis and appears they have a bunch rats working on the inside..

Little by little all the legends that made this community so great will be "taken out" mafia style.

One reason I don’t come here often. Very disheartening that all the good people had been pushed away from here.

BTW this is normal on the X5. It was programmed for "faster warmup" intentionally to hold second gear longer and was quite annoying. A transmission tune fixed that.

So I tested it two mornings where the temp went probably close to freezing in good ol Maine and never had the transmission hold the gear on warm up like you were saying. It would shift every time around 2,000rpm for me, where as on the stock trans tune it use to hold gears it would shift quite violently around 2,500-3,000rpm. So yes It seems xhp tune does solve that warm up behavior

That's great news, thanks for checking!

I think I'll make that my next upgrade. Have to buy an android device first though as I'm currently on an iPhone. Might wait till Black Friday to score something relatively cheap and keep in the car at all times.

No problem! And yeah it's definitely a worth while upgrade. Feels much more solid to drive. I'm in the process of deleting emissions, but before just with jbd 90% and xhp stage 2 I was seriously impressed by the power and speed of my D. I smoked some focus rs's and wrx's that were very confused lol

Send me his contact info too please. I just finished everything with my 2+ tune and I definitely dont want the xHP tune as I have been in cars with it. Reading reviews on DWR's I'd rather try that first before I settle.
