GEICO, how is it?

State Farm is charging me through the roof now, I'm literally pissed off about how they charge me hundreds on top of my policy out of nowhere, I've just been nice and paid it all.

I just did an online quote at GEICO.com and their rate is much more affordable, it's not cheap since I'm young no complaints about that, but I can at least afford to have full coverage with them without killing myself.

So, how is GEICO anyways? My policy with State Farm is about to run out, and I'm definitely not gonna be letting them keep taking this insane amount of money from me every month anymore.

Any other suggestions for affordable and good insurance?

I'd like to hear some feedbacks as well. Just purchased a new policy from Geico last month because it was much cheaper for me.

They are very selective about what drivers they will accept. If you can get insurance with them, I recommend you take it. I have been with them for years. Very low premiums compared to other insurers, great customer service, great claims service. And the company is owned by Warren Buffet, the most successful investor of all time. First class company.

You might want to check out Progressive. I've had good experiences over the years. (Actually a couple of hundred $$ cheaper than Geico in Florida).

It's fine as long as you don't get hit by a speed gun

I have no accidents, no tickets, no nothing for the past 5 years which is how long I've been licensed. The only thing dragging me down is my age and State Farm is ripping me off on that.

I used Geico for many years and have had a good experience. I haven't had any rate increases and have actually gotten "5 year good driving discounts" even though I have had an occasional speeding ticket in the past.

I don't like the fact that they give out radar guns to police departments, but the rates have been very good.

Geico is great, go with them u won't regret it.

I'm paying $400.00 per year less since I went with them.
When something does happen? they are fast to pay up.
I got my friend to switch to Geico & 10 days later he got hit.
Geico sent someone out to look @ his car few days later.
Under 10 days they gave him a check for $8,000 Blazer was crap!

Didn't work for me. It was twice the price of Geico's quote for me. Plus, I've heard nothing but horrors from Progressive customers.

EDIT: I think Progressive tend to be cheaper for younger drivers. I could be wrong though.

I save a ton of money on my car insurance!

Geico has been good to me. Had Liberty Mutual and AIG previously.

i just got quoted from Geico online. They want 900$ for 6 months. i currently pay 625$ for 6 months now with a local insurance company (2 cars btw). (100k/300k, 50$ deductible) vs (100k300k, 100deductible).

In my case, it wasn't a better deal. Plus geico factored my wifes accident (not her fault) and her speeding ticket in the quote. My insurance company has not raised my rates yet because of it. It'll be interesting when we re-up.

i agree with u xens, my parents have state farm and premiums are dirt cheap for their full coverage. when i bought my car at 21, they wanted over $2k/year for minimum liability only! their quote was totally off the charts when compared to AAA, who i am currently with and they charge me only $1,100 with comprehensive coverage. they just moved me to platinum tier and reduced it further to about $900/year and i just graduated college, not to mention AAA autoclub saved me twice when i had flat tires on the road. you pay $40/year for membership and they automatically give u 10% off of ur premium, what a steal!!!

If Geico doesnt work out for you, you can try allstate.

I'm not sure if it's cheap or not, but my parents use allstate for me.

I have full coverage and i think teh deductable is $500. Maybe not. But my parents pay $200 a month for me and I'm a young driver I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not but allstate has a good rep.

One more thing.. has anyone seen the general auto insurnace commercials on TV? "Call 1800 general now!" my best friend is cheap like no other and she has the general auto insurance.. she got into an accident and they took forever to get back to her. you get what you pay for. so maybe sometimes saving a few hundred isnt worth it.

You should talk to State Farm then. Older (30+) drivers with spotless records usually save money going to State Farm.

But, on the GEICO issue. I've been with them on and off for 10 years, they've always been friendly, fair, understanding and I haven't got any complaints. The few times I left them it was because someone else was cheaper, not because I had any complaints about GEICO.

In those 10 years I had 1 accident where I hit a tree during an icy day, they paid up no questions asked, no hassle and the increase to my premium was minimal. I also use them for renter's insurance, so I get a combo discount.
