Like the title says, my battery is dead and I need to find an inexpensive replacement. I really don't want to go to the stealership. Any recommendations?

I've heard of people on here having good luck with the Everstart MAXX at WalMart.

I went to Costco for an H8 AGM and they told me they don't carry this battery.
I ended up getting an Advanced Auto Parts brand H8 AGM with a $50 off coupon and it's been running great for 2 months now. Registered it with my Foxwell NT510 no problems.

I ended up getting it at the dealership. Price was decent. I bought it for $175. Made by Exide (white) battery. No need to register it. I ve had it since 2013, no issues. Oh and I installed it myself.

Same.

I got a matching replacement non-AGM battery for my car from the dealership for around 160 plus tax. Considering the original battery was stamped 08 I got 9 years out of it! Figure it was worth going OEM at that low price. I used Carly for BMW to register the new battery myself.

Nice.

I ended up getting a solid 10 years / 175,000 miles out of mine. I was shocked to learn it was original when I went to register it and saw no previous record of replacement.

I went to Wal-Mart and I believe I got an Everstart, but it didn't fit in my car.

I never knew you had to register a battery.

Yes you have to register it if it isn't an exact match or it will destroy the battery prematurely.

you have to REGISTER it as a new battery regardless if it's the same or not. It changes that cars charging strategy.

If you're changing AH or chemistry you must CODE the car so it knows what you've put in the trunk.

Two different things. Two different purposes.

I bought a duracell at sams club, made by DEKA. It's been solid.

This is a seriously good point.

Correct me if I understand it wrong:

Changing to/from AGM? Code & register
Changing Ah? Code & Register
No changes? Register only

My E90 only recognizes AGM regardless how I edit the .man file.

Autozone H8-Gld 155 min RC. I coded it as 70 Ah, car came back as 70-Ah AGM. Oh well.

Been wondering if I should have coded it as 90Ah.

Yes, after coding I registered it too.

Get a Walmart battery. I think it's about $99 and 3 years free replacement. Just make sure to register the battery if it's a different capacity.

Did you change your vehicle order? The VO will overwrite lots of settings, the battery being one of them.

Not an expert at this by any means, but the only edit was to change the original 90ah_agm to 70ah. Got back 70ah_agm. I think I will just leave it. I do not mind the supposedly lower charging voltage for agm anyway.

No, I did not (consciously) change the CO. Hopefully no mistakes there. Is 70ah or 90ah supposed to be valid options?

Yup, 70 and 90 are valid options. If I had to guess, the VO is set to 70ah AGM, and the VO is overwriting that setting.
