Would you notice an extra 55 BHP
May sound like a daft question but currently I have 355 BHP, thats assuming it running as it should.
I can have a re-map and new air filters fitted that should lift power to 410 BHP. An increase of 55 bhp or to look at it another way +15%. I appreciate that +55 BHP in a 320D for example would be very noticable (I had mine mapped from 177 to 215 but that was an increase of +21%) But in a car that already has 355??? What do you think? The cost is £895 |

I guess this should shed a little more light on the possible outcome. |

In our 60bhp 2 stroke outboard, I'd notice it a fair bit I reckon...

I take my car to Max's place. You'll have no problems there then mate. You should see what they can do with a Merc!...oh and an E90 AW M3

JLR, As others have said, it depends on the torque gains and where it fits into the delivery pattern but going out on a limb, be it top or low end, I reckon an extra 55bhp would be noticable...depending on how hard you drive the car |

Ahhh Jon....I see you considering becoming a CPR customer! Max and his team have been brilliant with my car too!
Just an example - I took my car there last Saturday so I could have a bit of a play with the suspension settings, have my rear damper mounts 'modified' (read: drilled!) so I could adjust the damper settings without having to take the damper off and have my brakes de-glazed. I was there from 10am to 6pm whilst they did a bit of this and bit of that (and pretty much worked non-stop) and Max charged me the grand sum of 2 hours labour Oh, they also bought me lunch too! Top place, top bloke but I feel you'd cringe at the length of journey for you to get there from your southern chatueux. I mean...think of the cost of fuel!!! |

If you gain mid range torque and bhp higher up the rev range, then yes it would be noticeable imo.

Assuming all other variables being equal
That is, that torque and hp increase across the entire range, then a 55hp increase is equivalent to dropping the weight of the car by the equivalent of 250kgs, or the weight of 3 large adults
So, have you noticed a difference in perfomance bewteen your car fully loaded with passengers and just you driving, because that's exactly the same difference you can expect with the tune |

I also am very doubtfull that 55 BHP can be acheived from a map and filters only. Seems too good to be true. Planet racing are very confident of the gain and have said they will supply rolling road graphs. Although its been 24 hours and nothing has appeared so far! |

Where's Mr. Fandango when you need him with his non mapped v mapped figures for the 335D?
And not just 1/4 mile 30-70 etc. I think it's a huge diff adding 20% more bhp to any car (obviously not a 6 tonne thing with a 60bhp engine - but in the real world) |

Its a mental engine no doubt, one i loved to bits, but without MAJOR internal reworking its tuned to the max. If you put different injectors, pistons blah blah blah then im sure itll push 400 bhp maybe 410 but off a remap with no internal changes i think its wishful thinking - read billshit. i put a sprint booster on mine and it felt faster cause the reaction to the throttle was quicker, i think thats all that will happen from a map. I would enjoy that little HOTROD youve got and leave well alone its a top motor.

Unfortunately, 400hp+ is not realistic from remap alone, we would expect to get the car to just under 400hp (380-395hp) The price for this upgrade, including before and after power run is £895.00+VAT However, Kleemann have strongly advised, to get the best gains out of the car with the re-map, they would suggest to upgrade the Headers, and swap to a 200cel Sports Catalyst, which will allow the engine to breathe a lot more efficiently, with a massive release of restriction from the original catalytic converters which strangle the big 55 motor. Gains then up to 420hp will be achieved ( +60/80hp), with a massive improvement felt at the top of the RPM where the car will rev out a lot crisper with more punch. The Kleemann headers + 200cel sports cat’s are £1495.00+VAT We offer an option for Heat Treatment on Headers, which provides noticeable improvements, especially for N/A Motors (some photos attached of a E63 Log Type Header from Kleemann that we have recently installed), this stops a lot of heat conduction to the motor, and more importantly, keeps the heat inside the headers to promote hotter gas and hence quicker gas velocity through the header (hotter gas travels quicker to colder area). We coat the headers and then wrap, and re-seal the wrap with high-temp paint sealant, all making a very neat heat protective coating to the headers, the price on this service is £550.00+VAT including parts and labour Fitting on the headers and the sports cats will be 6 hours x £65.00+VAT = £390.00 IN SUMARRY K1 ECU UPGRADE = £895.00+VAT K2 ECU and HEADERS UPGRADE (WITH HEAT TREATMENT) = £3330.00+VAT Some Attached photos of the Kleemann Headers for 55 V8 Motor (not wrapped) We also offer Lowering Modules, Rear LSD Units and Brake Upgrades for your car that will transform the handling completely |
