How can this car go any faster without suspension modification?

Okay, my car isn't ALL that modified. It's got hardly anything compared to some of you guys. I doubt it's even fully powered as the ECU has only been learning the JB3 and DCI for 24 hours. All I know is I'm losing traction all over the place. I could be going 50 miles per hour and if I floor it, I'm spinning my wheels a LOT - and my tires are like new. If I'm making the slightest turn - like changing lanes - and I floor it, it feels like I'm going to do a 360 on the highway.

Now that I'm here, I couldn't even imagine doing downpipes, methanol injection or anything like that. Is this happening to anyone else or is it just because the streets are so cold right now? I don't know if that even makes any sense.. All I know is this - if I were to do any one thing to make my car faster, it would have be to make it grip better.

Any thoughts?

Cold weather and RFT = alot of wheel spin period....When it gets hotter, you won't be spinning like that..

That's what I was thinking.. The tires will be warmer and stickier in warmer weather. Plus my car will probably be a little slower with higher engine temperatures.

I thought I remember reading how the runflats were pretty grippy. No, huh? Is there a set of good replacements that people generally recommend here?

I have just an SSTT and BMS DCI and i,m spinning on the stock RFT just like you in this weather. In the spring i,m adding more power,(GIAC or JB3,.Tires also, exhaust)Once the weather breaks we wont be spinning as much, not even close to now in this frigid spell.

You're on summer tires in the middle of winter. I'm having the same issues with my Michelin PS2 ZP RFTs.

the rft's are atrocious. my old 330 would spin all the time. get a good set of summers, youll notice a huge difference. if your tires are new you can sell em on here too and only end up spending like 100 bucks for new ones

Our cars do not come with an LSD so if you are tuning your car that is the one thing that I'd say is going to make the biggest difference in regards to traction control. Vehicles produced March 08+ were equiped with an Electronic LSD where the brakes would be applied upon the slipping rear wheel to allow for transfer of tq to the other side even with all traction control off.

An LSD is a pretty big purchase to make.
I would suggest new tires, not that the RFT's are all that bad, but non-RFT's will be a little better for applying all that power.
I think you'll see that anticipated drop in power, but as it says you're in FL, probably not as much as guys think. The temps in FL are probably what, in the 5-10C, they'll get up to 25-30C in the summer? I think most guys here that are seeing those huge power swings dependant on temp are seeing outside air temps around -5-0C right now, and will see the same 25-30C in the summer. At least I hope that's the case.

The dealer won't notice that you installed a LSD unless you happen to break your rear end, which won't happen unless whoever installs it messes up big time.

Need an LSD and bigger rubbers. I'd be shocked if BMW could even tell if you had an LSD installed considering that the factory pumpkin remains unchanged.

So how much would an LSD with installation cost me?

If you're making above 400 hp you're pretty much gonna lose traction with any street tire. Drag radials are your best bet.
