How easy was the swap? I only use the ash trap for change so a sunglasses tray would be a better option for moi!

It's not very difficult, just a bit awkward. Pop the gear gaitor out, then get your hands in and gently pull the trim out of its clips. You have to unclip the cigarette lighter wiring and carefully manoeuvre the trim piece up over the gearknob and gaitor to pull it completely free. You can remove the gearknob/gaitor (they are attached) but I found it easier to do it this way. There's just 4 torx screws holding the ashtray into the underside of the trim and the new storage tray is a direct swap.

Just have to be careful of the front part of the trim piece catching on your centre stack as my aluminium one was sharp and would have easily badly scratched around my iDrive DVD slot if I wasn't careful.

the tray was £25 from BMW

Nothing. Spent yesterday cleaning the GF's 325d and her dad's 530d... Never want to clean a 5series ever again - the damned things never end!

Got road trip in 2 weeks and the car is looking pretty shabby, so got the machine polisher out and got to work.

Freshly polished;

And after some Swissvax Onyx;

And some beading;

Still fighting with the annoying knocking noise on my car. Was in yesterday and they replaced front offside wish bone.....still knocking!

Lost track on which bits have been replaced. Went back today as it was knocking loudly (they've never actually heard the noise) and it's booked in next week, for front control arm (I think that's what it was called)

Hopefully it'll resolve it, otherwise it's going to be traded in against something else
