What winter tyres width?
Previous winter, I've driven my 330xd on all four tyres with 18/225 dimension, but for this winter I'm interested into adding 18/255 to the rear... Would that make a lot of difference in the matter of handling?

Skinnier tires are better for winter driving. Running a staggered set (summer or winter) will diminish handling. People do it just for looks. Running a square skinnier tire, like the 225/18 you mentioned, will also allow you to rotate them each season.

So, if I put 255 to the rear, how much worse will it be? Because I'm also not sure if I can have 225 tyres legally on my 9.5J rims (I think they are this wide)... They are on the rims currently, but as I've said, edge of the rims is looking out and is easily scratched...

Yep I know what you mean. I don't think it would be much worse to run 255 in the rear.

while it may diminish handling, having a winter tire of any size for winter will improve handling. having a 225 stretched on a 9.5 is a lot of stretch. Id prefer a wider tire so the sidewall isnt stretched as much. i have a 225/40 on my 18x8s and its stretched (blizzaks)

i was wondering if I could put 245/40/19 on mine for winter tires? i have also 8,5 and 9,5 wheels and I am afraid that 225 all around would be too much and I want to keep 19's on my car ?

According to Tire Rack:
225/18 --> 7-8.5" rim width 255/18 --> 8.5-10" rim width recommendations from a pro in the tire business
