Great DIY if only for discovering the awesomely-designed VW hooks. Just ordered a couple of these from Hong Kong for $nothing on Ebay. Totally pumped to have a less sloshy trunk in, oh, a month and change

I did this mod last night. Great idea and easy to do. Rather than twist myself around by working from the trunk opening, I folded the rear seats down and lay in the trunk with my legs in the cabin like a pair of skis. Much more comfortable but make sure you wear eye protection for the drilling.

Simple Grocery Solution

This was my simple fix for the grocery bag problem. I do have to say that I love bungee cords! I use them in my trunk to string groceries, hold down my emergency tool bag, and secure my cone filters...

Thanks. This helps! Also found several suppliers (if willing to wait from China) for like $4.20 a hook. Example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Portabl...-/122409124166

I ordered hooks that look like the ones in the previous post from Amazon. I pushed them vigorously on the two studs pointing down. I can't remove them by hand. Installed in three cars. Love it! Thanks for the idea!

This is still the most regularly and reliably useful mod I've done to my car, so thanks again :P

Ditto

I just did mine but used BMW pn 07147133553 screws and mounted it in reverse to what he has so that it looks cleaner when retracted and also to keep the bags further from the rear of the trunk to not scratch the plastic there.

Crazy, I never saw this thread but I used the same exact Audi hooks in my e90.
Works great and really amazes people when they think the car came with them from the factory! Lol.

Here you are with pics... don’t mind the additional led strip to bring some extra light to the trunk :-)
