Alarm retrofit - always thinks hood is open, alarm never arms
So I retrofit the alarm on my car. Added +K302 to my VO, then enabled everything. I even went as far to reset ALL of my car's coding to default settings (incl. DWAS/DWAI) and the problem persists.
If the hood switch is plugged in, the alarm never arms (single beep) and the car keeps telling me the hood is open, even though the switch is properly mounted and the hood is definitely closed. It only disarms (2 beeps). If I unplug it, everything works as it should. I bought everything used (the siren, switch and ultrasonic module). Maybe just the switch is defective?

That's a distinct possibility.
If you have INPA, you can view live data from the alarm. Just pull up the alarm data page and push the hood sensor button the see if the status changes in INPA. They do have a tendency to go bad, on the older cars the alarm would go off for no reason as the sensor began to fail. |
