Dec 6th Famoso Event

Weather was perfect and was a great day overall. Got together with Terry Hotrod182 and Mr. 5. My times were great as well best time of 12.3 at 114.7...
Traction was a big issue out there because of the 45 degree temp. I found these pictures online of me and my car one of them is me lined up against Mr. 5. who I took out
Great day of racing and with more practice My times will improve along with the mph. Best 60' ft was a 1.84. Traction wasnt that great.
ENJOY! Last picture you can see the wrinkle of my 40 profile Hoosier!!! Almost pulled tire! lol I even out-launched that crazy looking supra when he red-lighted...

He ended up running at 15.xx after red-lighting... He just practiced the launch that time

Cool pics. Seriously, that track looks like it is maintained much better than Sacramento.

You would of EASILY gotten over 115 mph (maybe even 116 mph trap) had your car been clean like it should.

haha! Yes Yes I was waiting for that! I actually washed it the day before but I had to waste the rest of my gas on the road right out side of the track so I could dump in pure race gas. The ground was real wet with dirt every where because the track is out in farmland

Yeah, I've been to Famoso, the lovely smell of cow fertilizer with that plant next door.
However, I would of wasted the extra gas on the freeway which is only a couple miles away instead of those dirty farmland roads around there. You ain't driving no 4x4 son.

You guys actually had it pretty good with the traction.
I know many of you guys think you didn't, but with 1.8x 60 foot times on DR's you had it pretty good for Famoso.
Often you are lucky to get below 2.0 on street tires and below 1.9's on DR's there.

I don't think you guys could of had it any better for Famoso.
upper 40's temps, DA's below sea level to sea level and able to get 1.8's 60 foot times, it truly doesn't get any better than that at Famoso, and probably 85-90% of all tracks.

I remember at LACR (crappy, crappy track) when it would drop to the mid to low 40's traction became more of an issue.
The best of both worlds was when the temps were in the high 40's to low 50's. Nice cool crisp air but not too cold that the traction becomes an issue (though traction was almost ALWAYS an issue at LACR).

In my experience the 50 degree point is the magical temp for best runs at the drag strips. You guys were right there.

True at some other tracks across the country you might of gotten 1.7x's 60' times but those are the exceptional tracks.
We don't have any of those here in California.

You could go back to Famoso 50 times, and I bet you wouldn't have better conditons (and traction) than you did on Saturday.

You guys all did good.

You launched very well. I really like your Hoosiers. I wish I could have tried them! But with only half a day, and the long lines, every run was precious!
Boy, that last run were were dead even on the launch (within .002 seconds!), but my car was all over the track. I think that is the hazard of running bias ply DRs with low profile 19" radials in front on a wet track! It was pretty scary! I know you had to back out some, but not nearly as much as I did, (barely over 101mph compared to your 113mph). Were the Hoosiers totally under control? Or kind of unstable?

Where do you get those tires? Cost?

Any ways, like I said, great run. You car has to be one of the faster 335i coupes in the nation.

Traction was NOT good. My 60' times averaged around 2.0. On the semi moist road just outside the track on the Nittos, I had no problem getting a 1.9 60's time. I couldn't get that on the Slicks at 18psi on the track. You have to remember, James was running less than 9psi of tire pressure to achieve those numbers!

I am so curious about the traction at Sacramento, so I will have to see if it is raining there this weekend.

I got the tires from Jegs. They cost about $200 each... I love them they work really well... I just need to do a better burnout and then I can start cutting 1.6x times

$200 a piece seems like a great price. Is Jegs a mail order outfit? You can't go to a local store and pick them up for that price?
