Any one dealt with AAA insurance?
I was involved in a hit and run the other day. I got their LP number and called the police. My insurance found out she was insured through AAA and they are taking responsibility for the incident. I went to bmw to get a quote for replacing the rear bumper, bmw sent me to Autonation collision. They quoted $2300. But AAA is saying that I have to drop my car back off at the collision center and they have to send a AAA person to asses the damage. I just want a check in the amount that's quoted.... will I get that from AAA?

AAA will need to review the damage and then negotiate with the collision center. Then they will either pay the collision center to fix it or cut you a check.
Make sure OEM parts are included in the quote, AAA will try and get away with only paying for some aftermarket junk.

Ask them to come to your house or job, and make sure they include rental car costs. If you don't need a rental car, they can give you a cash out for the equivalent amount.
If you use one of their recommended body shops, AAA will guarantee the work for as long as you own your car. Most insurance companies do this. |

Agreed with those above, ensure they are quoting for brand new OEM parts and not "rebuilt", "used", or aftermarket parts because insurance companies are infamous for trying to do things on the cheap.
I would recommend not going to one of their approved shops and finding your own shop that you will deal with directly so you can ensure they are using the parts that you want. I have unfortunately been involved in 3 such hit and run incidents that were all captured by my dash cams and were able to identify the vehicles/drivers of each car. From my experience all the companies will try to undercut you wherever they can and the easiest place to do it is in the quality of parts they install. One thing that worked for me in the past is with Allstate, they were trying to say there was no way they were going to install OEM parts on the car after their insured hit my parked car. They were attempting to tell me their policy was to use aftermarket or "like new" parts which was their Policy. I quickly informed them I couldn't care less what their policy was i wasn't insured by them and was not bound by their "policy". I agreed with them the car was definitely not new, but i told them in my eyes there were 2 choices on the table either they use OEM parts or we were going to figure out a nice payout figure for the depreciation on my vehicle due to lack of OEM parts. I guess it helps that I have always used OEM parts and could prove to them that no aftermarket parts had ever touched my vehicles. Good Luck! |

I'll try and get one of them to my house. I really just want to be cut a check for the amount. I mean at $2300, I can buy a used bumper, install it my self and pocket the rest for what ever else.

After I called AAA and told them I got a quote, they said that they wanted to send out one of their people to me house to see the damage. The guy they sent out quoted it at just $400.... says the bumper can just be sanded and repainted. I'm not gonna take that though, the bumper has a couple of cracks and is bulged out on one corner, theres not way just sanding and repainting will hide that.
